New Boxing Hall of Fame

Post by fistic mystic »

The new Minnesota Boxing Hall of Fame has announced its inaugural class of inductees. Read about it at:

I'm surprised by two things: first, that there are three non-fighters being brought in with the first class. And second, I thought they'd all be ancient history. Most of them are, but Scott LeDoux and Rafael Rodriguez are guys from the '70s and '80s.

Historically, unless I'm mistaken, the first class of inductees to a new hall of fame are usually athletes, and administrators etc come later.

Not that I object to this - I think it's pretty cool that some journalists and a doctor are going in. I have respect for all the guys being inducted.

Is this "Hall of Fame" made of brick and mortar? Or is it an ethereal web based sort of creature?

A friend of mine,Tim Adams fought Rafael Rodrigues.
he spoke highly of his ability.Tim lost a six round dec. Later on Adams became a good referee.

"A permanent display is planned, but its actual location is uncertain: initially Roy Wilkins Auditorium was interested, but they couldn’t guarantee the safety or security of the display. Other venues currently under consideration include the Warner Coliseum at the state fairgrounds and Uppercut Gym’s spacious facility in northeast Minneapolis, among others."
