Apparently the Enzo fight and the Gavin fight are off already according to some reports, know its not official but can't see the bill sticking together.
Re: How many of the Magnificent Seven fights will we see?
Enzo fighting different fighter I read!

Gavin fight does appear to be off, but that wasn't part of the "7."
So, is Enzo change number 1???

So is the Enzo fight off or has he just changed opponents? According to BoxRec and every recent article, he is still fighting Frenkel.

Macklin v Barker won't happen-too much to risk for either fighter.
Brook v Jennings will never happen in a million years-otherwise we would of seen it by now.
Chisora won't fight Sexton, but somebody else.
So that's three of the seven that I would be fairly sure won't happen, it's just how many of the others fall by the wayside.

Well I cant see the brook-jennings happening but i hope im worng. Thats the thing about these great bills half of them never materialise thats why i dont buy tickets till nearer the time.
Re: How many of the Magnificent Seven fights will we see?
Yeah, I think a lot of people feel the same way. The bill is a great idea, and could be an amazing show, but equally, I just don't have a great deal of confidence that it will "stick."emma wrote:Thats the thing about these great bills half of them never materialise thats why i dont buy tickets till nearer the time.
Re: How many of the Magnificent Seven fights will we see?
Even though there is a large body of precedent to support our concerns, this thread is an example of an 'irritating trend' of pessimism in the game today - according to the writer of a blog on the Boxing News website. Maybe if he had to shell out for his tickets, travel and accommodation only to see a particular fight fall through, he might not be so positive.whicker wrote:Yeah, I think a lot of people feel the same way. He says the pessimism was given a 'modicum of credibility' with the withdrawal of Woodhouse. Hardly. Although a title fight, it wasn't one of the supposed seven originally announced.
He also says the Brook fight isn't part of the seven as there's no title on the line...The Sun, for whom Al Legedly writes a column, says it was. Or are the deckchairs being shifted about already?
Re: How many of the Magnificent Seven fights will we see?
I would have thought the Brook fight was for the British? According to the other sources, quoted in one of the threads, (I forget which) Brook Jennings is one of the 7.
Regarding the article, It seems take to take the view that people who criticise are anti- Warren.
I don't think this is the case, though. It's just that, as we know, great shows are annoucned, then it all seems to fall apart.
Also, this quote is unusual: " even if say, three fell through, it would remain the biggest show in Britain so far this year "
Well, OK, sort of logical, but still- what if one of the three fights that fell through was the one you really wanted to see?
It's a bit of a sting in the tail- announce 8 good fights, if four of them fall through, that unfortunatly leaves a lot of disappointment from people who wanted to see those fights (and people who bought tickets assuming there were going to be the 7 or 8 good fights.)
But I DO agree, this would be a great show. And as mentioned, I would be happy for this to go ahead. Just that confidence isn't high at the moment. Recently, there have been FAR FAR too many headline bouts with people picking up vacant titles from unworthy international (and indeed, sometimes domestic) opponents.
But sure, if this holds up, I'm well happy.

For me I am not sure.
I reckon Sexton-Chisora could be a doubt depending on the health of Sam Sexton's mother, because I remember he pulled of fighting Danny Williams so he could be at his mother bedside if my memory serves me correctly. As for the rest I am reasonably confident that they will all go ahead. As for Kell Brook and assault he will get a couple hundred hours of community service dependent on his past.

Re: How many of the Magnificent Seven fights will we see?
I went for 4, I can't see Barker and Macklin facing off as it never seems to work out when top british fighters are with rival promoters. I think someone above said Brook VS Jennings was doomed from the start and I tend to agree, and also, isn't it a bit suspicious that we haven't heard a thing from Karo Murat as far as the Cleverly fight goes? I'm fairly sure he's with one of the big German promoters so you would expect a statement from him if he's actually going to go through with it. I fear we will end up with Cleverly VS "the highest WBO rated contender available" which will inevitably be the no.14 (not that I know who that is as it's far too depressing to actually check the WBO rankings!)
Wow reading that back I think I may be one of the pessimists, I should stress I'm still looking forward to a decent night of boxing, especially the Rhodes Konecy fight!

Realism based on boxing precedent, not necessarily pessimism.boxing_rob wrote:

Re: How many of the Magnificent Seven fights will we see?
mmmmph. i started off optimistic but having had a chat with a mate and reading this thread. mmmmbugger comes to mind
we discussed it in the context of 'if X fight was cancelled would you still buy a ticket?'
obviously for me Barker-macklin is the most important, and if that was cancelled and ALL others were still on, sure i'd still buy a ticket (mainly or Gavin, Bellew who I still haven't seen in the flesh, and Cleverley, with Cleverley being the most important to me there)
like many others i simply don't expect jennings-Brook to happen. and with Clev and Macca both fighting Eurozone guys, hmmmmmm....
so basically what i am left with, is if Barker-macklin and the Cleverley fight ain't on, I won't even bother with the half hour drive to the NEC. I'll watch it on Sky.
which is kinda rubbish. I'd happily shell out a hundred quid for pretty much two fights but wouldn'ty bother paying 60 for the rest of the card. and i don't quite even understand why, other than the Macklin fight's that much more important to me than the rest and losing it, the bill would take a big hit for me.

Re: How many of the Magnificent Seven fights will we see?
i think brook v jennings looks questionable. just seems to be one of those jinxed fights. i'm surprised anyone gives an eff about it any more. brook is a major talent but we're not seeing enough of him, and jennngs is hardly mr hot stuff at the moment, is he?
i believe macklin v barker will happen. it should be an outstanding fight. i really hope all is well with rhodes v konekny because konekny is really one of those fighters that brings the fight to you and rhodes is clearly a skilled (if unorthodox) boxer with a big punch. i saw rhodes outside the train station in sheffield a couple of weeks ago. ppl say he looks gaunt/ill before fights, but he certainly looks fit and healthy between fights. couldn't bring myself to say hello to him (not that i'm one of these geeks that goes round annoying minor celebs/sportsmen & pestering for autographs) as he stopped jamie moore!

As I understand it even as boxing Rob was writing the above the WBO were announcing the fight was "Lt. Heavyweight Elimination Bout,”

Re: How many of the Magnificent Seven fights will we see?
Aye, apparently the WBO are saying it isn't for any kind of title. Then again, the source is Fight News which is notoriously unreliable and there's nothing on the WBO site.Brit Ryan wrote:" isn't it a bit suspicious that we haven't heard a thing from Karo Murat as far as the Cleverly fight goes? If they're right, that's one down...but on Al's site, yesterday they were advertising it as for the Interim title. Surely they wouldn't do that if it wasn't sown up? They're far too professional for that.
Can't wait to see Frenkel. He's out to baffle Enzo with science:

So is Kell's title simply not on the line? If so... jeeesh!HomeOfBritishBoxing wrote:

Or has he given it up. (Jeesssh again.)
Shame, this would have been a great British Title Fight.
Still a good fight for it's own sake, of course, but I can't see Jennings going for a world title again even if he does win.
Re: How many of the Magnificent Seven fights will we see?
Yeah, that sort of thing seems a wise estimate. Lets hope at least that the oiginal opponents stick (although, OK, we don't know De Gales yet.)mickey1975 wrote:You have to give Al credit for even putting it together. Its not his fault if some fall through.Poop happens.Personaly,i think we will see four of them.Enzo,Rhodes,Cleverley and Degale.
Re: How many of the Magnificent Seven fights will we see?
Well, Al said that Jennings would fight O'Donnell for the British title as soon as the latter was fit and the BBBoC's most recent notice on this (9th June) says the same.whicker wrote:So is Kell's title simply not on the line? If so... jeeesh!HomeOfBritishBoxing wrote:

However, Brook won that sh1tty WBO Intercontinental belt against Bienias so perhaps that could be on the line.
Re: How many of the Magnificent Seven fights will we see?
By the way, FWP asked the EBU to extend the purse bid deadlines for Cleverly v Zsolt Erdei (Euro title) until July 22nd and their wish was granted.
Re: How many of the Magnificent Seven fights will we see?
Brook gave up the British title, so Jennings and O'Donnell could fight for it. I believe that O'Donnell is the mandatory challenger, so they can't sidestep him, even though it would be an excellent British title fight.
