Didnt lee beat Mcewan twice in the ams by landslide decisions? Im sure Duddy beat him too. :TU:

He aint. He did!
The beauty of opinions! :TU:

There's only one way to settle it....Harry Hill style....
Would prefer to see Duddy and Barker settle it though.

Darren Barker is the weakest mw in Britain or Ireland at the moment. He has some skills sure but he's not half as good as he's made out to be. Matty Macklin will demolish him, this won't even be a contest.

I've got a feeling Barker will be eating canvas, I guess we'll soon find out who's hunch is right. Barker is not a hard hitter. He certainly doesn't have the power to deter Macklin, do you want me to believe he's developed power overnight? The fact that you have reason or inclination to go watch him train tells me your not biased in the least

I see a big boxing lesson for poor Macklin. Barker will win imo, far to skillfull and it'll take its toll on Macklin.

These two are supposed to be 2 of the bigger ticketsellers around, be interesting to see how many turnout now Macklin finally fights in one of the big brum arenas and Barkers lot have to travel outside of London...

I don't really see this being a one sided fight for either man. In my opinion they are very evenly matched and it will be a competative scrap. I will be suprised if one fighter dominates the other.

Well said Crusader. it's usually the 50-50 fights that polarise opinion so much that both camps think their man is a certainty to win (and half will tell you afterwards that they were right all along), when in fact it is what it is - a close, evenly matched fight on paper where you can make a case for either man.

I favour Barker slightly but if someone said i could bet Macklin at 6/4 say, I would have no problem in backing him - they both have a good chance. I just hope the fight now comes off, as I am thinking of making the trip to Birmingham for it.

Barker isn't that well-supported. only had 200 or so when he fought McDermott in Watford.

Macklin will bring a lot of brummies out to the NEC. every casual fan I know will be going to this one if Macklin and Gavin stayso n the bill.

Macklin is very tough and can take a punch, but if he cant take his man down in the first 6,he is made to look ordinary enough, its hard to keep up the pressure but from looking at both i think he will have enough to win on points.

I'm leaning towards Macklin on this one, purely because rightly or wrongly I think Barker, despite his classical boxing skills, has an air of fragility around him at this sort of level. I just don't see him being able to cope over the duration with the sort of 'heat' that an on-form Macklin can bring.
Fascinating match-up though and I wouldn't be shocked to be proven wrong.

well, they'll be in the wrong place to be starting anything. They'd be well advised to keep their heads down.

This getting boring. I've been hearing Macklin is the second coming for... 5 years now. Since he fought Hatton in readiness for Tszyu.

Fact is Macklin turned pro before Carl Froch ...and still ain't fought anyone.

I think Barker has done well in his 5 years, especially considering he quit after his brothers tragic accident.

If Macklin beats him then fair enough, but Barker is here on merit. And whilst many talk how Macklin fought better comp... well Barker has done about 50 rounds with Froch and Kessler over the last 3 years himself.

From memory I think leforge said they were singing anti semitic football chants at Barker's French opponent (they are Chelsea fans).

They can get away with that sort of tasteless behaviour in a half empty Ally Pally but if they come to Brum with that sort of attitude they will soon run into trouble

Fight of the night, it's difficult to pick either with any confidence. Macklin by KO or Barker on points IMO
