It appears so.
Ticketmaster had now withdrawn sales.

Tickets are currently not available online for one of the following reasons. Please check back for availability.

* Tickets may not be on sale yet
* Tickets may not be available at this time. More tickets may become available later
* Tickets may not be available online just hours before an event occurs
* On rare occasions, tickets may only be available at ticket outlets or the box office

Green has claimed on foxsports that WA has already sanctioned the fight.

Briggs is furious stating that he never retired because of health problems but it was because of personal problems

I like what someone has commented about this story at the bottom

'And yet somehow all of Mundane's one sided fights are given a green light. What a joke!'

How true!!

It's got nothing to do with one sided affair/mismatch.

Been told, the show is now history.

Well if that's the case, the public clearly is not being told the whole story. There must be some other health issue

This is a joke. A return flight from Melb to Perth is now over $400, which is a lot more than the $80 flight I had already booked to go to Sydney and back. Looks like I'll be watching this one from home. I know its always a risk booking flights and accomodation for boxing events as fights are often postponed due to injury, but this is rediculous.

I don't know I can see why this wasn't sanctioned. Briggs ahsn't fought in 3 years plus he looked like absolute crap in his last outing.

I've been aware of the situation for over a week & NSW Authority's decision is not based what is said in the article.
I doubt other regulators will allow it to go on.

Saw the President of the NSW authority interviewed. He said that the authority was unhappy with the lack of medical information supplied by Paul Briggs' people. They had also wanted Briggs to have a couple of warm up fights first, but he refused. After what Green did to Jones they could have a point.

A three year lay off as a reason is crap. Some of the thai taxi drivers they have allowed to fight for some bullshit title over the years were ridiculus. They were just lucky no one got killed.
I don't want to see this fight simply because it will be a mis match. Danny fight some one in the top ten or admit it is all a joke.
For far too long we have been paying for fights that should be free to air. Mundine is a master.
Give us a NTF for free and then a red hot contest for the belt will sell itself

correct!

there was a fight a couple of months ago against one of our better boxers (can't remember right now who) that was pitted against a thai fighter who was supposedly the same weight. it was obvious there was at least 2 weight divisions between them when standing in the ring and the thai fighter was accordingly given a beating that only lasted 2 rounds or something.

i don't have a problem if they enforce a guy in briggs case to have a lesser fight to prove he is not completely shot, but at least be consistant with the other fights that go ahead too.

They should have fought in VIC - That's where mundine v ellis was sanctioned, after ellis had obvious health issues and a 6 year lay off

Briggs should swap places with Cameron. That would be a better card.

I hope this is a sign of things to come regarding sanctioning. Aussie boxing is dying because of all of these ridiculous mismatches, the sooner the tell fighters like Mundine to actually fight a credible opponent the better.

I've never been a fan of the fight so hope, for Pauls sake, that it's off.

Going up a weight, 3 years out, medical problems (even if they weren't the cause of his retirement) to come in with a power puncher. Briggs' defence was never the best, his chin was great and lots of heart but he'd get hurt due to it here.

Neither had fought for years. Nelson had been out of the game for 10 years and Fenech for 12.

(PS. It was in Melbourne.)

If this fight is off Green Machine should be reimmbursing a lot of people.
It will mean I have copped out for two lots of airfairs (originally Karratha - Perth - Sydney, now Karratha - Perth return).
I booked the last lot once I heard Greeny on local Perth radio stating the fight is definately on !! WTF is going on ?
To top it off most accomodation outlets give no refund or credits.....thats gone too.
I have no doubt there are many in the same situation I ma in but if Green has gone on radio, announcing this fight without it actually being finalised I will be very p.ssed off.

If the show is definitely on, Green should get onto Ticketmaster...and pronto.
It still ain't selling tix

If the show doesn't eventuate, class action would be in order to recover loss of funds.

It was advertised in Perth that ticketmaster would start selling Monday (I think that is presale) and to the general Public on Tuesday.

Greeny said tix to syd would be refunded but if you guys didn't get travel ins for airfares and accom, that isn't not his problem (in a legal sense)

Cheers Dan. yeah I heard the interview and Danny sounded very angry and frustrated. I actaully rang in and spoke with Simon Beaumont on 6Pr and was by no means passing blame at GMP for this. What i was saying in my original post is that is Green has now come out and stated the fight is happening in Perth, prior to getting clearance in Perth I will be pissed off.
I was just queryin it based on previous comments on this site.

If tix continued to be sold for Sydney, knowing Briggs' status was uncertain, then it's a matter for Consumer Affairs & possible visit to the court.
