Interesting match-up, seeing as how these weren't either fighters best fighting weight. De La Hoya only had 12 fights at 147 Walker didn't beat the best competition while in the 147 region (Jock Malone, Jack Britton and Dave Shade are his best wins at 147). I'm in the middle on this one. On one hand you have an incredibly tough/durable Mickey Walker going against a beautifully fast tactician/power puncher De La Hoya.

I think at 147 I'm going to give this to De La Hoya, however; had they gone up to 154 and up I would give the edge to Walker.

I do agree on Walker-De La Hoya (two of my all-time favourite boxers, incidentally), but I wasn't drawn on Johnson-Spinks for a reason

Impossible for me to exhibit any confidence in picking that fight.

Ugh, again with the matchup of a guy who's career has run it's course and a guy who's barely building his legacy... *sigh*

Lopez wobbles and drops Hamed twice in the first round, but in the midst of attacking gets rocked by a left cross near the end of the round. The two then begin trading "wobbling" blows before Hamed finally ends things in the 8th with a string of knockdowns, Lopez's anxiousness to finish his opponent working against him against a more experienced champ.

The fight starts a lot like Marquez-Barrera with the two feeling each other out with probing jabs and combinations but quickly heats up by the second round when Duran decides that Marquez can't hurt him. Duran attacks furiously as Marquez counters with equal ferocity despite being dropped and otherwise moved about the ring. Duran rocks Marquez throughtout the third round after dropping him but every time he tries to finish Dinamita off he runs right into a blistering combination that forces him to think again before his next attack. The fight takes on this kind of rhythm over the next several rounds (Duran hurting Marquez and Juan furiously rocking him in return for his agression) but by the 8th round Marquez' face begins to show a lot of wear with both of his eyes swelling badly and a severe gash over his left eyebrow bleeding worse with each round. Finally in the 11th Duran manages to put Marquez down for a third time and despite getting up, Marquez' vision is now severely affected which along with his exhaustion proves to be his downfall as Duran finishes him off with a violent array of power punches.

James Toney vs. Michael Spinks in their primes

Toney wasn't up to much at Lt. Heavyweight. By far his least impressive weight class. I simply don't see any way for him to beat Spinks. Either a lop-sided UD or a late stoppage for Spinks.
