I could be a prick and look down my nose at people as well, but education shouldn't be used as a weapon.

Haha, yes I did mean couldn't resist. Chill out smigga, only having a laugh. No one looking down anyone's nose here, just thought it was funny that you were pulling Dilks up on his grammar and made a grammatical error in doing so.Smigga wrote:Do you mean couldn't resist?PaddyD1983 wrote:I'm not criticising you for having bad grammarSmigga wrote: Forgive me Carl it is kind of hard to read the way you type. So... any chance of going through how your team landed on McD as an opponent? I said further up that I'd have tried to go down the international route to land some kind of WBO eliminator? That not considered?
Re: To all supermiddleweights in the country
In fairness Smigga you do articulate yourself well, while it is not needed to fight, it is good to see a boxer who counters the obvious stereotypes

Who is next after McDermott, Paul Samuels???Lenny wrote:I'm not saying McDermott will win, but people are raving about novices, (most of which don't have fighters as good as Butler and Bendall on their records) as being much, much more deserving. Surely a good style match up against a decent boxer with a couple of good wins isn't too much to ask?
He is ranked by the WBO and WBC. He should look to improve his ranking by fighting someone else ranked there, or having an eliminator. If McDermott is the best they could come up with there not doing there job properly.
Plus he clearly wants nothing to do with Groves.

I wasn't being serious Paddy I'm giggling to myself mate.
Look, anyone and everyone knows, I don't make the fights. I do know how hard it is to make the fights but in my opinion, my team do a great job. I will fight and beat whoever is put in front of me. Again I have to say, it isn't as easy as it looks or seems!

Tell that to the Haye haters, think how much harder it is to make fights at world level than British levelSmigga wrote:I wasn't being serious Paddy I'm giggling to myself mate.

Fair point, and obviously the money men know more about this than me.Smigga wrote:I wasn't being serious Paddy I'm giggling to myself mate.

I also have a bit of an idea (albeit a much smaller scale). My little cousin is a pro boxer and just trying to get a fight any fight is proving to be a bitch. So I appreciate it only gets more difficult to get the right opponent. As I say though, I'm just not overly excited by McD. If the tickets are priced though you'd still get a good crowd at the echo. Just hoping that this fight (if it does goes through) leads to some decent names.
As a side point, who's your pick for the Super Six (both winner of the tourny and between Froch and AA)?
Re: To all supermiddleweights in the country
Carl When i asked you who YOU THINK YOU should fight, i was being realistic... I total get the whole, 'I would fight anyone' of course you would your a boxer, but try answaer the question as honest as you can..... Who do you think you deserve a fight with? You have only beat 4 guys with more wins than defeats so i was just trying to see where you rate yourself... Am naw having a go, its just you didnt answear my question properly... As for fighting Smigga, come on mate, show the guy some respect, like him or hate him hes 29-1 and current champ... Guys like Maguire, Quigley and Anderson are more your level

Because I am a boxing fan that has twice paid to see fight cards where you have featured, gave you allot of credit for your win against Quigley and chasing a fight with Magee. I have watched many of your fights on TV and have continually told anyone that would listen that your brother is the number 1 prospect in the country and going to be the best thing to come out of liverpool since the Beatles. That should earn me enough respect from you to respond to my Groves question which you are still avoiding.Smigga wrote:robpalmer135 wrote:robpalmer135 - You have made 29 posts on this site. 2 of which were actually positive. He is fighting end of July and has publicly called you out several times. Will be more than ready for an October date which is when I presume the farcical McDermott fight will happen. If you can give me one good reason why McDermott is your next opponent instead of Groves I will refrain from slating you again.........btw not being ready or experienced enough doesn't count because he is Commonwealth champion and has several good wins at the weight unlike McDermott who doesn't have a win better than Adamu in his career. Its also the exact same situation as your brother against John Simpson. Groves brings more fan interest, sells more tickets, sky would love the fight and the press would get behind it. Its a fight fans want to see and I saw a poll recently where the overwhelming majority of people said he would knock you out. So lets here the reason why your not fighting Groves and facing McDermott in another step backwards and a fight not even scousers will gets excited about?
If you again try to dodge the Groves subject I will continue to assume you are ducking a fight with him. Which is fair enough you have your career to think off and getting stopped by a 9-0 novice would put you back two years and stop any chances of getting a world title fight in the future.

Carl!!! Talk to the legend that is Paul David. Im sure he'll fight you as when i spoke to him at a show in Weston he thought he was the best thing since sliced bread AND he tried it on (verbally) with my missus. If you do get that fight on please beat him lol. I do deep down like Paul David though. I think he has a good style......just not with women!
Re: To all supermiddleweights in the country
be fair joe, you beat webb convincingly & must feel your still a cut above. now if it wasnt for injury's & lack of round's,you'd be screaming out by now surelly.
the thread is a goad as smiggy post's on here & he takes the bait & then there is utter back peddaling.carl you come across as a genuine nice person & if you are going to take such an approach you cant hold back & sit on the fence being a nice guy & respectfull. you mentioned the bendall fight which i felt smith won in a hard fought contest & then he mentioned your loss, disregarding it, i felt you won clear, but groves crushed him & it has massively devalued your case of being commonwealth champion.
as for mcdermot being a bigger puncher that's laughable, watch the ambler fight he had at 12st. i'd say he's better schooled with his chin letting him down.

Yeah right. I have read your posts on the other shite forum you use, You have never had a good word to say about me, have always slagged me off and disrespected me and have picked every other opponent to beat me. Why should I be in the slightest bit bothered what you think or have to say???

Re: To all supermiddleweights in the country
Groves v Smith isn't likely because they are with different promoters, maybe for a title, but even then!

Re: To all supermiddleweights in the country
There doesn't seem to be that many super middles around British Title level able to contest. Paul Smith is due a good class European or American boxer. Against the right style he'd do really well and look good. Against a different style it is a different story. Groves is a good fighter with speed and power and his last result was great. He needs slowing down though to get ready for the more experienced men; it is a different story after 6 rounds.
Re: To all supermiddleweights in the country
Have I missed soemthing??
Smith fought Quigley and Dodson in a row, both top 5-6 SM's at the time in the country.
Is he not entitled to an 'easier fight' - that is not meant as disrespect to McDermott by the way, I am just going by what people are saying on here.
What is it with people on here???
You can imagine some of the people on here as managers.
'Erm Right o Tony, decent win against Cleverly, right, its Chad Dawson, Tavoris Cloud and Bernard Hopkins in that order please' - anything else makes you a pussy.
'Excuse me Mr Haye, I know you have just beaten Wladimir via a dramatic back forth KO in the 10th, but you'll love me I have got your next fight lined up, its Vitali in 3 weeks time, oh and if you win that you have get in a time machine and take on a mid 1980s Tyson or a peak Lennox Lewis, ok???' - oh and another thing, if you dont your a pussy.
Listen, George Groves is a very good fighter in the making, but he has had nine fights and him and Smith are at different points in their careers, whether or not Groves could beat Smith is not the point.
Let Smith get on with his career and let Groves get on with his, if they meet it will be because the business calls for it not because people on here have twisted on 21.
Rant over
Kevin
PS - I am off to pick a fight with Travis and Jon-Lewis Dickinson in that order, when I am finished Jeffries is getting a knock - anything else makes me a pussy.................

He wont fight Groves because it makes no sense to either man at their varying different stages in their careers.
