Best way to learn is in early career mode, stay amateur and you get sparring and learn to fight and the fights themselves are not too taxing. Once you've mastered it a little more turn pro.

A little tip for you.

If you go to MY CORNER, then EA TRAX you can turn the music off during menu screens. Much less irritating.

I have just scored the fastest knockdown in history, walked straight out first bell and crunched a right uppercut haymaker straight on the guys chin and he went down. He got up though the bastard. Still TKO'd him in a round.
