Assault In The ring.

Post by markinmidd »

I noticed an advert in Boxing news, for the documentary, "assault in the ring" .i heard about this being made a couple of years ago, finally got hold of a copy a few months back. Supurb documentary, on a par with " ring of fire". The DVD is about the billy collins v luis resto fight, the allegations of glove tampering, the tragic events that follow and brings you right up to date. Gripping stuff.I wont say no more so as not to spoil it for anyone who gets a copy. unable to knock out copies myself guys, sorry.

It is excellent. Watched in on HBO last summer on holiday. Resto comes across as a very tragic figure, while Panama Lewis is a total lowlife.

It is a great documentary. They all knew what was happening though.

Just compounds the theory that "the bottle he mixed" for Pryor was obviously not on the level. A guy like that is a predator and a manipulative master. Even years after, you could see that he was in total mental dominance of Resto.

Have to drag this up as I've finally got around to watching it. Now that I have, I can't believe it's taken me so long to see it. A brilliant documentary I'd highly recommend it for anyone who hasn't seen it. Brace yourself for a sad but intriguing depiction of the tragic tale.

Not meaning to pick on you, but if it's good, and worth watching, why not just BUY it?

For what it is worth, I've seen Louis Resto a couple of times here in Massachusetts. I sat next to him and other members of Rivera Boxing Club at the Golden Gloves. He was helping out with the Rivera fighters one of which went on to win the Nationals in Little Rock. Soon after Rivera closed (unfortunate, since they did some great work in Lynn, MA), I spoke with him at the Cambridge/Somerville boxing club.

Those Duran shows saw the best and the worst in boxing. Cleveland Denny was killed in Montreal and Collins was half-blinded. Duran whipped up the crowds and the fighters, too.
