Who is the best heavyweight in the World ?
Come on - cast your vote in the Poll - who you think is the best - the true NO 1.
British folk - mainstream - casual or non boxing fans - could be forgiven for thinking that David Haye was the only World heavyweight Champion that existed thanks to all the media coverage he gets - and no mention of the other heavyweight champions and contenders.
But there are quite a few heavyweights who hold realistic claims to be the best - so who do you think is THE MAN for now or too emerge as the NO 1 in the near future when he gets the chance to really prove himself.

sorry - povetkin - slipped my mind - otherwise I would have included him.diggler wrote:wlads the best, povetkin should be on the list ahead of harrison, solis, adamek and valuev
Anyone who thinks povetkin is the best - just vote other.
I included Audley Harrison - just because there are a certain element of British fans who still believe in him and still believe he can become World Heavyweight Champion and in the upcoming future he could get the chance to prove his worth in a fight with either David Haye or Vitali Klitishcko.

Re: Who is the best heavyweight in the World ?
I go with Wlad over Vitali.
I also agree with what Tyson said over the weekend about it being too soon for Haye to engage in a scrap with either of them. Tyson said he needs to spend a bit more time at the weight and get a feel for it before taking either on. I certainly think he could beat either of them in the future but as Tyson said if he got in with them now it would just be too soon.
Maybe Haye would be best served for now by getting in with a few of the opponents Wlad has traded with in the past. He could then compare how far he is away or how near he is to a fight with Wlad by comparing performances/results.
I was a bit cagey when Haye was talking about getting straight in with either of the brothers and I was made up it all fell through to be honest. If he plots it right he has all the tools to be the undisputed champ of that division, if he rushes he'll end up an also ran. Hopefully we start seeing him in with some of them ex Wlad opponents then we can measure his progress.

Scouse - I agree with your posts and I agree with Tysons advice.
The smart way would be for Haye to gradually gain experience at the weight - making some defences against fighters he would be favored to beat quite comfortably.
However - I only criticise Haye - because he is the one who ran his mouth long and hard - and was straining at the leash to get at Wlad.
He should have been more respectful - and built up his heavyweight career more gradually - rather than calling out the main man disrespectfully - and then ducking him when the fight was there to be made - makes him look a bit silly now.

Vitali is the best.
Which is a little like saying Stewart Downing is our best left-winger.
Damned with feint praise.
Haye has the ability to trounce him.
But until he does, Vitali's pretend longevity and roll-call of Aunt Bessie's Heavyweight Contenders will have to suffice.

Anyone think James Toney has any claims to be the best ?

Harrison is nowhere, and should not been anywhere near that list.Raff The Frenchman wrote:lol 2 people voted for Harrison and 6 for Haye...Gotta love British humor
Haye? He has more credence than most. I don't think he is the best, but he is worthy of being considered. I think, atm, Vitali is the best, but he is on his last legs.
*sigh* Some ppl just cant get past the whole, 'I dont like the bloke because [insert any number of excuses and a few rants].....'.

Wlad?
Vitali could not knock the skin off a rice pudding these days ( unless its a fat has been yank heavy rice pudding).

History will look back and at least briefly remember Chris Byrd. And will pay Lennox Lewis a great deal of respect. Both of who he lost to. The historians of 2050 will not look back and crow about Sam Peter or Albert Sosnowski or Chris Arreola or Danny Williams.JUSCOOLNOMAN wrote:Wlad?

Vitali has beaten nobody of historical significance not even a tired, bloated Lewis could he better.
That was his moment and he was stopped, he was unlucky to a degree, but I maintain Lewis greater experience and depth of belief had him turning the fight around.
Since when Vitaly's best win? Corrie Sanders - canonised in the modern era for proving brother Wladimir had even greater flaws than big Vitaly did.
Vitaly is a brave fighter. But he's dull, one dimensionsal and has a resume of such flimsy constitution it would be the designated driver on a resume's night out.

There are some shockingly warped minds around if they are the honest thoughts of the 5 voters. They need sectioning.reggaereggae wrote:Does Audley Harrison have 5 accounts???

Worlds Greatest probaly created 5 aliases just so he could vote Audely.
I noticed this guy has now become a member on here and is making Audely threads.
He is mental.
He joined ESB - and would make some threads at 3am in the morning - and they would start like this.........
Whats Audely up to ? - who is he fighting next ? - if anyone can give me his mobile phone number I will give the big man a ring to see what the latest is.
To add to that - his picture he posted under was Mr Alledgely - who is one of Audelys biggest critics.
He got banned from ESB - then came back under a new username spelling Worlds Greatest backwards...........and preceded to make more Audely threads - again in the early hours of the morning.
He is obssessed with Audely.

My vote went for Vitali - the man - no-one has proven otherwise - and I think he would dominate Haye.
Re: Who is the best heavyweight in the World ?
At this moment in time its one of the Klits that's proven. Audley Harrison shouldn't even be on the list, what a joke.
Re: Who is the best heavyweight in the World ?
Without a doubt it is either Wlad or Vitali.

I would say - Vitali - his chin is proven especially against Lennox.
However I seriously wonder how much longer Vitali has left.
As Mr Payne has already stated - if Haye gets his tactics right - he has the range of shots and know how to be the best - problem is proving it.

Proved his chin against Lennox? Some kind of joke statement?Spud wrote:I would say - Vitali - his chin is proven especially against Lennox.

Lennox was 38, the heaviest he's ever been, slower than he's ever been, half trained due to promoting the show but in your eye's has proven what a great chin Vitali has.
That night did not prove Vitali's chin was good but just how semi-retired Lennox was.
To answer your wonder about how long Vitali has left? Not long, he is old, even slower and gets tagged easily.
On the separate subject of the best Heavyweight then I will state as I have many times here and on other forums that David Haye is the best Heavyweight in the World.
Re: Who is the best heavyweight in the World ?
Being above their best weight doesn't mean a fighter punches with significantly less power than they have in the past....
I really don't see how anyone can say Haye is the best HW in the world. The Klitschko's have been winning more convincingly against top opposition for a much longer time.
