Good interview for the hardcore fan

Post by dondada »

Some of the small hall fans among you might have come across Robin Deakin. Spiky colourful hair, always tries his best though has a poor looking 1-21 log.

Good interview here...I didn't know about the chap's childhood disability. Fair play, for sure:

I've always thought that Robin is a better fighter than his record suggests. Him putting Vinny Mitchell over sticks in my memory.

great article thanks Ian.

I hope Gareth is around, he could tell us a couple of nice stories about Robin, who I believe is a minor hero to Gareth's daughters.

Yeah CP, my 2 daughters love Robin Deakin (mind you they are 5 and 9 YO). To be honest I have loads of time for the guy as well. Has boxed 3 or 4 times on our shows, always put up a brilliant fight and made the home fighter dig deep to get a win.

I'll have to have a look through my pictures and get a few of them stuck up in here. I did say before on another forum "could he do better with a stricter regime?" looks like the answer mighht he he thinks so.

Stories -
The only man I know that can suck a lemon go to bed and wake up 9lbs heavier lol.

Likes to share his sweets with female police officers. (That was a brilliant weekend )

and a man of his word that can keep a secret or two

Really enjoyed that article. I'm sure the Hyland brothers would also testify that Deakin is a much better fighter than his record suggests. Wish him the best of luck in his comeback.

Cheers lads, and sorry Terry .Really nice guy is Robin, I found him very unassuming and open. Amazingly there is more to his story than in the piece, as I found out after it went up! Just hope he gets the right fights from September...

Just joshing mate. He seemed a nice lad and enjoyed listening/reading about him. Though you have committed the greatest crime ever -- forcing me to do some work over the weekend :TU:

In this life or the next, I shall have my blamange!
Ohhh nooooo!! Working at the weekend? I'm suitably ashamed haha.

Looking forward to reading your article. Right, I'm off to hack into your computer again, need to find out about other interviews you have done but not written up yet
