compare vic to green and mundane. and hhow much recognition does vic get in the mainstream. bugger all.
thhe media have allowed greeen and muundane to have their high profile and in the beginning deserved it. now i fear the media will use the last few fights to puut"boxing back in its place"at the bottom of the sports agenda where the majority of the pC wank brigade who the commercial media spew their garbage to feel it should be....coz Ray Martin told them it wasnt safe-u know whhat i mean. considering how far boxing came on the backs of green and mundine it is now going to return to the swamps duue to thhe two that broughht it back into mainstream. that shits me. and now their is a genuine rival for the "combat sport" slot

Re: Where should Danny Green go next?
I'd be happy with any of the top 6, and less than happy with him fighting Cameron if it's his only other fight this year. Cameron in September then one of the top 6 in December, that would do me. Though I'd prefer if he skips Cameron, who is nothing special.
Re: Where should Danny Green go next?
reckon he needs to skip cameron. he has fought what- 5 minutes in 3 fights. NO NO NO to cameron. Pointless. Just another circus attraction, like this Lesnar shite.
I sincerely hope if he does fight a top ranked fiighter he starches them-if it happens i cannot wait for the horse shit that wiill come from some on current scene.Loaded gloves, hhe was lucky, his opponent was diistracted BLAH BLAH BLAH.toooools

Re: Where should Danny Green go next?
It would be nice to see Green fight someone who has the ability in throwing punches back!!! Or could take more than a jab!!! It doesn't look like Green's management is interested in that sort of opponent though!!!
Re: Where should Danny Green go next?
sadly mate you are probably right. bUT green is his own man and he cannot deflect the blame onto everyone else for the recent mismatches.unless greed and egowank is too entrenched in his blood now and blindiing him. a good, active top 10 opponent and someone not even the green haters could bag him for fighting(though if green did win then there would be the predictable rants of how he only ever wins coz he is a cheat and the fiix was in bLAH BLAhh).
Re: Where should Danny Green go next?
You got admit he clearly doesnt want to be in a hard fight anymore!! So maybe he should stop this ppv thing its not fair on the fight fan!!!!
Re: Where should Danny Green go next?
sadly eviidence is mountiing to suggest you are right yid...i say with regret. If the next opponent is another bad one thhen Green will drop to equal with mundane.SURELY he has some pride left-as an aussiie,a fighter and a man. time will tell. and he would be a fool to sell another PPV piiece of turd. But sadly Mundane has now for years. perhaps he will. i hope not-but then i could be the most naive gooon on earthh
Re: Where should Danny Green go next?
Do you think this is all building up for Mundine and Green to fight eachother?? I hope not! If it makes you feel anybetter I've been bigging-up David Tua (my favourite fighter) lately!! And lets just say he was poor!!!

I don't think Green/Mundine will happen ever, the first fight had build up with both fighters finding there feet in the fight game with good victories over international opponents and there was curiosity and a general interest from the public.
Mundine looks like Skeletor Atm and is about 10 kilos lighter.

I agree mate, Pitt, Neimann and Forsyth are better than the crop of Cruisers we have at the moment. In a year or 2 we are going to have some Cruisers right up there on the World Scene IMO.Hounddawg wrote:Judging by the Cruisers coming thru Forsyth,Pitt and Neiman, Vea who i give my full support to just might not be the top guy come the end of the year in Australia.
Flores would keep the americans happy, but seriously Flores gets starched hes best opponent was that 29-7 guy on the undercard of Lacy/RJJ, and he hasn't fought since.
Either Cunningham who i think Green beats, Cunningham would of lost that fight against Ross if not for the thumb in the eye, or he go's to europe again to either bring a fighter here or he go's there to fight them.
Whats with all these people that think Greens skills are limited from the current scene, fair enough he's no run away Mayweather or the great Ali, but the guy can box, he's jab is pretty fantastic and we all know he's greatest attribute's is his power and chin.
Re: Where should Danny Green go next?
I just have to say that it seems we are all on the same page for once and it was very well said by toppo, JSA and amwsnw.
Re: Where should Danny Green go next?
pitt, neimann, and forsyth are very good prospects, but are their managers and promoters, i don,t thi nk there is a difference, now going to rap them in cotton wool and feed them cannon fodder, they need good opposition from overseas, the harder the better, the only way to improve. all the bestMarlin wrote:I just have to say that it seems we are all on the same page for once and it was very well said by toppo, JSA and amwsnw.

I was talking about it being critical for Green to step it up for his next opponent.

i wouldn,t hang by the balls waiting for that to happen, if his fair dinkum he will spend a bit of that hardearned money! and go overseas and chase the top liners, all the bestMarlin wrote:I was talking about it being critical for Green to step it up for his next opponent.

He may have to. He tried to get Hopkins and Tarver to come out here to fight him, they did not want to know him.
Reminds me of when Henry Cooper was Empire Heavyweight Champion and tough Canadian George Chuvalo was top contender for the title. Cooper's promoter was in Canada and Chuvalo asked him when he was going to meet Cooper for a shot at the Empire title.
Reply he got was "George, Henry does not even want to meet you socially".
Re: Where should Danny Green go next?
Danny Green along with Mudine and SBW can go to the WWE..... theatrics of that sort will sell well. Yahoo!
Green can fight Ray Mysterio, Mundine can fight Macho Man Randy Savage on a comeback fight and SBW: Hmmmmm..... Triple H?

Re: Where should Danny Green go next?
Darchinyan and Katsidis must just shake their heads in disbelief at the green/Mundine circus. The press has a lot to answer for as well. i suspect even they must be just about over these hyped business entities..
Clearly the NSW authorities knew about Briggs condition, it beggars belief that the green camp & the WA commision did not know.

Re: Where should Danny Green go next?
Now Kali Meehan wants Danny Green to fight him.
Could be interesting.

Re: Where should Danny Green go next?
I'd like to see him in with Enzo Mac in the UK...
Re: Where should Danny Green go next?
I am a fan of Kali's and would like to see him get a nice payday, but I think Green should fight an elite name at 205 or 175 before taking on another "local" or more opponents like Siaca. Can Green make 175 anymore? The WBA champion Shumenov is a limited slugger with poor defence and has a vulnerable look to him. He seems to be up for challenges and has already fought two world class opponents in just 11 bouts.Brute wrote:Now Kali Meehan wants Danny Green to fight him.

At 205, Lebedev is an opponent who seems like he will fight anyone. He has a fight with the WBO champion Huck next, and should he win, could Danny challenge him for the title? Lebedev doesn't seem like the type of guy who would duck anyone and I highly doubt he would be afraid of being overpowered by Green, considering his own strength and natural size advantage.
If Huck defeats Lebedev, his management might be confident that they could defeat an opponent who is smaller and older than Lebedev, as well as somewhat similar stylistically.
Re: Where should Danny Green go next?
green was bottom feeding against a man not fit to fight, who could not fight back.Brute wrote:I think he will. He seemed pretty pissed off at Briggs' chickenshit display. Briggs is a former light heavyweight contender and younger than Green. I doubt Green expected him to pull that stunt.crusader wrote:I would love to see him fight Lebedev or Wlod. Bouts with these men would be wars, as both fighters hit hard and prefer to stand and trade. They are both much stronger than anyone he has ever faced.
Honestly, I would be happy if Green took on any legitimate top ten cruiserweight, but I doubt he will.
i hope his TV paymasters suddeny expect a lot more of him. green can't just come back, fight no one who can properly hit him back, cash out and ride into the sunset.
if you are expecting ppl to fork out $50 per fight PPV, then you have to give something bacl. stop all this 183 pound bollocks, stop pretending to be a world champion (IBO), and challenge one of the top boys at either 175 or 200.
shumenov at 175 - great fight
wlodarczyk at 200 -great fight
tempt one of these over to australia and be in a real fight - for once. danny green is a fighter with the skills for war - recently he's shown the poise, the control and the punch economy of a prime briggs - so it's strange that he's never featured in a truly memorble, bruising battle.shumenov or wlod would be a rough handful.
with the position he's in, with the great oz TVv money he boasts of, he should be targeting adamek, not briggs.
Re: Where should Danny Green go next?
shumenov looked pretty good on friday, defending his WBA title vs a top 10 opponent. green could definitely take advantage of his inexperience, though.crusader wrote:I am a fan of Kali's and would like to see him get a nice payday, but I think Green should fight an elite name at 205 or 175 before taking on another "local" or more opponents like Siaca. i think huck is made for lebedev, will get run over by the russian, that the russian is exactly the kind of opponent that danny green would stay away from. green has proven he'll fight a puncher - provided he's been off for 3.5 years and has lost his fighting spirit.
aftre hearing the abuse green gave briggs, however, i would like to see lebedev crack danny green open.
i'd gain enormous respect if green would fight a top light heavy or cruiser, but i think the business of boxing will support green's bum of the month / year / half year / whatever campaign, sadly.

Re: Where should Danny Green go next?
the only good thing i can say about his next fights, i.e. cameron, meehan, (and probably holyfield) is that at least they're bigger than him.
but they are in no way top fighters, which is a sad reflection of how green is wasting his talents and of how the business will support him with his catchweights and novetly outings.
lacking a tszyu or fenech, it seems green and mundine can get away with selling the fans short and ending up in farces.

That's almost the problem though. These fights will be promoted as legitimate challenges because Green will be fighting bigger opponents, even though they are more like top 80 heavyweights. The cruiserweight division is really bright right now (Cunningham, Huck, Lebedev, Ross, Wlodarczyk, etc), so there are plenty of excellent fights that could be made. Same goes for LHW.
Like yourself, I have been really disappointed with the way Green is wasting his talent. He could have accomplished so much more by now. He has what it takes to beat world class fighters.
