Erin McGowan WBO title, Dawson-LoPorto PABA

Post by Sweet P »

There is a good card coming up in Perth on October 9th.

Erin McGowan is fighting UK fighter Lyndsey Scragg For the Vacant WBO World Title

Also on the Card will be Jeremy Allan Vs Robbie Bryant for the State title.
Andy green will be having his first fight back after Shoulder surgery
Also Paul Fleming and Dan Dawson will be on the card.

It should be a great fight, and Erins opponent will be a big test for her and hopefully she can get the win.

good stuff. good local shows are what we need. just hope they get some media exposure. just wondering-hhow much effort goes to promoting shows etc in the local papers(and by this i mean the "regional papers". in my council area we have a free paper delivered caalled the messenger. time and time again i have seen articles on local boxing shows or young boxers. really seems a good way to promote the grass roots stuff. as SA has such a small populatiion base relative to the bigger eastern states(and even perth) was just wondering if similar papers exist elsewhere how much are they utilised.

it iis my impression that take the circus clownsout of the equation there are several promiising fighters out there.may not be world beaters yet or ever but if the promotion of honest good fighters with a passion for their sport are supported at the grouund level and competitive matchups are made =happy punters. happy punters= the potential to draw in more casual fans. some of the local fights ii have seen in the last year or 2 have been great. tthe blokes (or blokettes)may not go on to be p4P greats but competitive fights are exciting.

or do i need to wake up and slap myself???

Sounds like an awesome card. Will Dawson be the main event? Any word on an opponent?

I see Dawson is now listed as fighting Frank LaPorto on the 9/10. LaPorto is also listed as fighting on the 23/9. Any confirmation on whether LaPorto is fighting Dawson. Risky for someone who fights the way Frank does (usually very entertaining wars) to commit to a fight with Dawson only a couple of weeks after fighting Maxwell.

Will be good as long as it lasts. I think it is all in the head for Dawson. LoPorto is tailor made for dawson as he will stand in front of him and want to trade. Dawsons power should give him a KIO victory. That said LoPorto does not quit and if Dawson is not on his game may be in for long night.

'Dawg I hope so. At least Dawson would be a live opponent. He would put pressure on Mundine for 12 rounds and wouldnt go away. My understanding was Daniel had a few personal issues whilst in the US and then took the WBO fight on short notice. I am not familiar with the guy he fought but apparently he is a very accomplished boxer. I would love to see Dawson v Mundine at Jnr Middle. Since Daniel returned to Australia I was hoping this was a fight (v Mundine) they would chase.

I would like to see the fight, one things for sure Dawson at 154 will be the strongest opponent Mundine could fight in aus. And he will give 100% the whole fight.

Not sure about problems, But daniel took the fight on a few weeks notice, He was getting tired in the later rounds and the Referee stopped the fight. Dawson was still coming forward and throwing shots even though he was being outboxed.
The Russian guy he fought had over 250 Am fights and is 26-0 as a pro.

He had issues with a few financial situations and getting fights....Good luck to Daniel. I dont think Mundine would be too quick to take a fight with a guy so dangerous.

Good local match up, thats what I like to see. I think Dawson will get over the line, but however La Porto will come to fight, if he is prepared it will be a great line up, If i remember correctly La Porto called out Dawson a while ago, Lets hope the Rock fights Mundine.... :TU:

If I was not in Europe at the time, I would definitely be going to see this fight card. I see Dawson as only a narrow favourite to beat LoPorto, who gave Bryant his only loss via split decision over six rounds last year. According to BoxRec, Andy Green will be fighting in 6 days in NSW, making this his second fight post-op.

What I find interesting is that Dawson is fighting at 154lb, and Bryant at 160lb - I've seen the two spar on a couple of occasions and while they are about the same height, Dawson has always appeared the bigger, heavier fighter.

Frank Lo Porto is going over to win, Daniel Dawson is showing up to win, and I agree with Jezzamundo that Dawson is only a narrow favourite. I think Frank is a tough, durable dark horse. For mine, this is one of the better fights, and cards of the year.

I agree Mate. This is going to be a great card.
And it will be a tough night of Judging. All of the fights are competitive. LoPorto has won in Perth against Bryant in a close fight. If he deserves the win against Dawson believe me he will get it also.

You've got your work cut out for you there mate, I'm glad you're on the judging panel as this fight deserves a fair decision.
I've met both Frank and Daniel and both are great guys.

I think if the Rock is on his game he will stop Frank, so you can rest easy Ben................but if it does go the distance I think everyone knows Frank is awarrior.I just think Danile will have a bit too much class for him.
