Re: desert showdown
The worst sportsmanship ever imaginable! A young boy around 10yrs old was walking out of the auditorium, through the casino, with his family very proudly holding his belt and smiling.A parent of the loser in this bout(I was told) backhanded the little kid across the face! The brawl was on! Someone pounded this asshole and 20 -30 people were brawling with fists, feet, and chairs! Some coaches and spectators grabbed the chairs away and tried to break it up.Many people were hurt. One guy hit over the head with a steel stool had his cut open badly.Coaches were pulling the little kids to safety as these guys gave no thought to the little kids in the middle, crying and cowering. An investigation should be made and this gym should be banned! This guy was a total piece of work!

Re: desert showdown
i wouldnt doubt that happened its like the tournament was fixed for certain gyms to win its a shame the way my boy was robbed i felt like backhanding an official but never the kid he fought these kids train hard and its not their fault its the lack of fair judging ...shame on anyone for hitting a child ![[icon_shame.gif] :shame:](./images/smilies/icon_shame.gif)

Re: desert showdown
im sure they do it happens everwhere usa boxing judging is poor they should try something new because they way its done now is messing up this sport.... ![[icon_twisted.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif)
Re: desert showdown
im just asking im not from cali at all but i am an official and i have seen some bouts that are very close that it could go to either kid. if the bout is so close how can anyone say the kid got robbed? also remember that there is 5 judges and depending where your sitting you see points that the others dont see. i do agree with poor judging because it does happen here where im from. i also have seen a kid that has clearly won a bout in everyones eyes but he loses.it has happened to my son but i dont go telling my son you got robbed. i do tell my son what he should of done better that way he can go to the gym and work harder than before. i know is aggrevating to see that but i think we all need to be try to make something negative and turn it positive because it will not be the first or the last time we will see these type of problems we are all humans and we all make mistakes!!!NOR-CAL-FIGHTERZ wrote:im sure they do it happens everwhere usa boxing judging is poor they should try something new because they way its done now is messing up this sport....

Re: desert showdown
I AGREE A MISTAKE IS A MISTAKE AND DONT GET ME WRONG THEIR ARE SOME GOOD JUDGES IF NOT GREAT JUDGES BUT AT THIS TOURNAMENT THEIR WAS NO MISTAKE JUST PLAIN AND SIMPLE THESE JUDGES WERE FAVORING CERTAIN GYMS AND THE FIGHT IM SPEAKING ON WASNT CLOSE IT WAS A ROBBERY AND MY FIGHTER NEEDS TO KNOW HE GOT FUCKED HE TRAINED HARD HE WENT DOWN THEIR AND WON AND FOR THE JUDGES TO DO WHAT THEY DID WAS A DISGRACE TO AMATUER BOXING AND A DISGRACE TO THE OFFICIALS THAT DO JUDGE FAIR....

Re: desert showdown
yea only 3 judges this tournament was a shame first one of the doctors didnt show up for the first two days so they had to cram all ring 3 fights into to ring 1 and 2 than on saturday for the championship fights they only have 3 judges .........
Re: desert showdown
lol i guess desert showdown next year will not have alot of people going.speacialy with all these tipe of judging and no call no show doc! i wonder who was running the show?
Re: desert showdown
Tournament director/organizer is Ralph Romero; COO is Delilah Rico.i wonder who was running the show?
And, FYI, 3 judges are used when there aren't enough officials for 5 judges for the ring (one or more rings). To break it down, in case you didn't know, the minimum officials (no breaks) for one ring is 5: 3 judges, 1 timekeeper and 1 ref. If you're going to use 5 judges, then the minimum officials for one ring (no breaks) is 7.
Re: desert showdown
i know that but i was expecting more official at a event like that. only because that way no one can say they got robbed with 2 more officials it makes it easier for everyone to see they got a better desicionboxmel wrote:Tournament director/organizer is Ralph Romero; COO is Delilah Rico.i wonder who was running the show?

Re: desert showdown
Like I said, this is a local tournament. It is not a ranking tournament; it doesn't lead to national or international competition. I think most officials prefer to take vacation time and spend their own money going to the US Championships or PAL or Women's Championships......i know that but i was expecting more official at a event like that.

I Heard Ringside Also Only Has 3 Judges Scoring...
Re: desert showdown
Ringside has a hard time getting officials. Again, when it comes to taking time off and spending your own money, most officials choose to go to a national, ranking tournament.I Heard Ringside Also Only Has 3 Judges Scoring...
Re: desert showdown
Become an official and go help out the other volunteers. They always need officials.CALIFORNIA BOXING wrote:I Heard Ringside Also Only Has 3 Judges Scoring...

Re: desert showdown
3 judges isnt fair enough minimum should be 5 if there is not enough judges dont hold a competition.....or let the ref judge also he has the best view anyway

Re: desert showdown
but contrary to that even with 3 judges i have heard nothin but good things about rinside and the junior golden gloves tournaments thats where we will be next year hoping to see boxmel so we can talk......
Re: desert showdown
I really think you need to attend the next official's certification clinic held by your LBC. It will honestly give you a much better idea of judging and referring and help you to, hopefully, understand what we do. Any time a tournament is held there is always the hope that there will be enough officials for five judges at every ring. This doesn't always happen and you can not cancel the competition just because you only have enough for three. Again, please remember that we are all volunteers and have to make decisions as to what tournaments where, and when, we choose to spend our money and time on. Personally, I can only afford to do one tournament per year on my own vacation time and money.3 judges isnt fair enough minimum should be 5 if there is not enough judges dont hold a competition.....or let the ref judge also he has the best view anyway

.inside and the junior golden gloves tournaments thats where we will be next year hoping to see boxmel so we can talk...
Ringside and Jr GG are not tournaments that my husband and I choose to attend. But I'm sure we'll meet up somewhere down the line. Maybe at the California State Silver Gloves in December?
