Andy Lee fights friday night.
Re: Andy Lee fights friday night.
What's worrying is that the Lee fans not only swallow it, they leap to it's defence.
It'd be far more refreshing for one to say 'No excuses, it's an appalling waste of time. Lee should really forget about this as it tarnishes him, fighting all these no-marks'.
How on earth this fight will better Lee in any way cannot be fathomed. I'm positive the payday would be crumbs so that holds no credance either.

Intead of simply stating that it's a crap fight (which it is), Bennie feels the need to write a f*cking essay on Lee's career mostly focusing on his defeat to Vera and the last round against Belgecham. The terms he uses such as "seven round pounding" and "barely surviving" are both troll-like and not even remotely resembling what actually occured. That post was pathetic.Dioufy wrote:I would say that over 90% of this sub-forum enjoy reading what Bennie has to say, and I would also say that he's spot-on over 90% of the time with his posts, too. I tend to agree with him regarding Andy Lee as well. He's definitely not "troll-like."

I disagree, completely. In boxing, boxers who fight less-gifted fighters as the norm deserve unenthusiastic and scornful comments. It's nothing to do with him being Irish, but the Irish on this forum seem to have a bag of chips on their shoulders thinking he's being lambasted because he's Irish.kellybluegloves wrote:Intead of simply stating that it's a crap fight (which it is), Bennie feels the need to write a f*cking essay on Lee's career mostly focusing on his defeat to Vera and the last round against Belgecham. It's not true. Andy Lee isn't too great, IMO.

Why do you parade the username of a shameless quitter?mugabi wrote:bennie wrote:Once-beaten Andy Lee ticks over in a nothing eight-rounder with Missouri's James Cook in Oklahoma later this week (Friday).
The big southpaw from Limerick, who fights out of America, is still rebuilding from a disastrous seven-round pounding at the hands of Contender failure Brian Vera in Connecticut in 2008, which took away his unbeaten record and all talk of pending world title glory for the former Olympian, paid half a million dollars by Emanuel Steward to go pro in 2006, although he is ranked in the top 15 by the WBA.
Lee, 26, was dropped down a level afterwards but has still struggled, busting up in fights and requiring plastic surgery, running out of gas and barely surviving, falling in and out of love with Steward and the States, and then there was the ignominy of his last outing against Mamadou Thiam in Limerick in May when the ageing Frenchman bailed out after two rounds claiming a back injury. Frankly, a female amateur on the card would have given Lee a better fight.
The clue to the depth of this Friday's fight is the location. Oklahoma is the ultimate tank-town state and Cook, the ultimate tank-towner, as pitiful as it gets as an opponent. The American has fought just twice since 2004, one of them a four-round draw, and will do well to make it past the first round.
Why are you trying to pretend your writing a newspaper article?
YOur opinions and insults are disgustingly troll like.

I want to see Andy Lee against a name, either someone of his own standing or a an ex-champ in decline, but still with the ability to give a stern test and and ask a few questions of him.
What he needs is decent match-making that will forge his skills and test him him properly. Tests that will see if he is good enough, tests that will stand him in good stead for stepping up in class to realise his full potential.

Have Ben Dunne's Guinness-soaked fans all switched to Lee.

Sorry, are you having a conversation with yourself here? Where do I say he made these comments because Lee is Irish? It's a meaningless fight but don't use that as an excuse to crap all over Lee just because you don't happen to rate or like him which Beenie clearly doesn't, no need to write a mock article about it. Beenie is clearly a troll. You'd think Lee was the only fighter to ever a. lose and b. fight a crap opponent. I must write an article about all the Afrobums with losing records that British fighters face for the Commonwealth title, that wouldn't be trolling would it?Dioufy wrote:I disagree, completely. No, I'm quite clearly not having a conversation/argument with myself. It's a general observation. Any negative comment aimed towards an Irish fighter on here, whether justified or not, is jumped on by the Irish. In this case, Lee deserves all he gets. It's a nothing fight and it should be portrayed like that.kellybluegloves wrote:Sorry, are you having a conversation with yourself here? Where do I say he made these comments because Lee is Irish? Bennie has written hundreds of 'mock articles', as you put it over the years on here. You may have missed them in the 5 minutes you've been posting on here.kellybluegloves wrote:

Defending a fighter is not exclusive to Irish fans, it seems to only be the Irish that get picked up on it though. Say what you want about him fighting this Cook guy, it is a crap fight but Bennie's post was a bs attempt to discredit Lee which is not deserved at all.Dioufy wrote:No, I'm quite clearly not having a conversation/argument with myself. So hundreds of troll posts then? I couldn't give a toss how many fake ass articles he's written, this particular one smacks of trolling and is factually incorrect.states wrote:Bennie has written hundreds of 'mock articles', as you put it over the years on here. Kelly, I never said that you defended Lee, or other Irish fighters, just for the sake that they're Irish. In fact, I've never seen you post before today before. But on the whole, Irish fight fans tend to irrationally defend Irish fighters. It happens all the time here on Boxrec.

Interestingly it always happens to be the same brand of ignorant caaants that are the same ones that have a pop at Irish fighters.Dioufy wrote:Kelly, I never said that you defended Lee, or other Irish fighters, just for the sake that they're Irish. They are never pulled up on it by the Brits on here, therefore its left to the Irish to pull them up on it.
Bennie has obviously never seen the Vera or Belgacham fights to say what he said and then there are the lemmings that come along and clap like seals - boring!

I've read numerous forums and I can tell you that British fans are as bad if not worse when it comes to irrationally defending their fighters. See any Haye V Klitschko negotiations thread or Froch V Dirrell thread on any boxing forum for proof of this. Anyway my point is that Beenie's post is way off the mark and comes across as trolling. That is all.Dioufy wrote:Kelly, I never said that you defended Lee, or other Irish fighters, just for the sake that they're Irish. In fact, I've never seen you post before today before. if Lee was promoted by a certain top British promoter, and had taken this fight, he would be drowned in criticism on here.kellybluegloves wrote:I've read numerous forums and I can tell you that British fans are as bad if not worse when it comes to irrationally defending their fighters. Ferg if you think that this fight, which is televised coast to coast across the US, is a waste of time then a fear to think what your opinion is of all the fights hes had in Ireland. This will do more for him in terms of profile then all of them put together. I remember the same things being said on here when Lee was lined up to fight Belgacham but after he went on the maul Barker everyone made out like he was some sort of canny gatekeeper - boring, ignorant, biased, lemming, trolls!FeargalóCuinneagáin wrote:This fight is a waste of time. No one is saying that Cook is a Macklin, Gevor or even a Barker but he is no worse than most of Barkers last five opponents.
Re: Andy Lee fights friday night.
I don't know why the British and Irish don't have seperate sub-forums. It's more trouble than it's worth.
