Smigga interview

Post by dondada »

I'm doing a few interviews with some of the pros who are part of the BoxRec forum family.

To kick things off (not for the first time on here 8) ) is our pal Smigga:

Cheers, I think Smigga comes across much better when there are no trolls nipping his ankles. Fantastic idea for a series!

I think he comes across well on here, just better when hes not having to defend himself to people who really don't want to have a serious conversation and are just baiting him. Agree about the facebook page too :TU:

I have to be honest i didnt really rate Smith but ive watched his fight against Dodson for a second time and he does have decent boxing skills.I dont see him beating the likes of Ward,Dirrell,Kessler,Froch,Bute and Abraham but thats no disgrace as they're all very good fighters in there own rights. To be honest i even think Stieglitz wouldnt be a pushover if im honest as ive seen his fights against Andrade,Balzsay and Gutneckt and his boxing ability is fairly decent although not with the cream of the division and he's got decent power too!Regarding Sartison,i dont consider him a world champion in all honesty because Andre Ward is the proper WBA champ in the 168 division.

Yeah, I'll ask him these next time I'm opposite him at an incredibly badly organised speed dating session.

Good piece Ian, really enjoyed reading that. :TU:

Would really like to see one more question, something like "what do you currently have lined up with your boxing career".
I haven't got a clue what is happening with Paul Smith and his next fight after the Magee debacle and i'd really like to know.

Looks like Darren Mcdermott next in Liverpool then after him it would make sense to fill in his mandatory which would win him a lonsdale belt outright then I see Paul getting a world title shot.. :TU: He is more than capable of beating Sartisan... :TU:

Yeah i agree he can beat Sartison as he's nothing special. To me though he wouldnt be a proper world champion if he beat sartison as he's basically a mickey mouse champion!Andre Ward is the true WBA champ.Id prefer Paul to fight Robert Stieglitz as that would be for a proper title the WBO belt.

You have a point BUT personally I do see Ward as the stand out super champion at 12st so with the WBA's rules it's a world title..I'd say the WBA have more clought than the WBO also.. Either way itmakes no difference at the end of the day, If Paul wins he's world champion and that's all that matters. British boxing needs world champions, I mean he's not exactly going down the IBO or WBU route is he... Sartisan is world class and if Paul can do him that makes him world class and with him already having US exposure it could lead to something really big for him so watch this space guys. :TU:
