what are the silver gloves age brackets?
what are the silver gloves age brackets?
Are the ages for silver gloves the same for JO's & JGG?
Re: what are the silver gloves age brackets?
No - SG ages are: 10-11, 12-13 and 14-15. And the rounds for all bouts are geared toward the younger boxer. In other words, if a 14 year old boxes a 15 year old it will be for 1.5 minutes, not 2.Are the ages for silver gloves the same for JO's & JGG?

no only the jos can advance to international bouts. slivers gloves and junior golden gloves have nothing after you win them expect the sliver gloves allows you to represent them in the jos

what do you mean by represent them in the JO's?

All winners of the National Silver Gloves, who are 15 years old, can advance to the National Junior Olympics Tournament as part of the Silver Gloves Team. I say can because they can still box in the JO local and regional tournament and go as part of the regional team. The last two or three years the Silver gloves team has won the team title.pockets wrote:what do you mean by represent them in the JO's?

Heard some grumbling this year because the SG team is made up of boxers from all over the US, not just one region. And since team points are calculated for each region....... 8)The last two or three years the Silver gloves team has won the team title.

But SG team is also made up of all 15 year olds or at least younger than the other regional team members on average. IMO, it's no more of an advantage than GG (years past), Armed Forces, PAL or even NMU would have on paper with their teams at the USAs. Rewarding champions of other tournaments at the US Nationals is pretty cool IMO. I hope they don't change it.boxmel wrote:Heard some grumbling this year because the SG team is made up of boxers from all over the US, not just one region. But they don't calculate points separately for the PAL or NMU or GG. The team points at the Championships is strictly by region (unless it's changed, but I don't think so).Armed Forces, PAL or even NMU would have on paper with their teams at the USAs.
