Frankie Gavin
Out of any boxing prospects we've got in Britain at present he is the guy that excites me most!He has a really good boxing brain and is pretty much technically flawless. He's a guy that i look at and i think he's gonna definietly be a world champion as he has so much abilty!Anyone else with me?
Re: Frankie Gavin
I'd have to agree he's the most naturally talented boxer in Britain, he's coming along so well and there's no doubt he will be a world Champion.
Re: Frankie Gavin
He's certainly my pick of the prospects, I also like the pace at which they are moving him. Very clever fighter...

Re: Frankie Gavin
Probably 10k.As for Kelly,i dont think hes a great step up for Frankie to be honest.Hes mainly boxed at lightweight whereas Gavin has been nearer welter and you would have to worry about anyone who calls Gavin a pressure fighter.bennie wrote:Yeah, I read this I while back. Re: Frankie Gavin
Frankies defintly going to be a world champion! He's fought better opposition than any of the olympians and for me is going to do in the pros what he did in the amteurs!
Re: Frankie Gavin
I rate Gavin but I don't believe him to have the potential to be as elite as people on this board make out. I could see him becoming a world champion but not a dominant one.
I think he is good technically, has bags of heart and will no doubt have a good career but I'm not convinced about his power at domestic level never mind world level and presuming that he'll either box at light welterweight or welterweight for the majority of his career, he'll have one hell of a job becoming an elite world champion in those divisions which are always flooded with talent.
I actually think DeGale has by far the most telent of all of the prospects and could be a genuine world champion if he applies himself properly.

Re: Frankie Gavin
We'll have to agree to disagree!Lol.I agree that he doesnt look the biggest puncher but neither is timothy bradley and he's probably the top fighter in the 140 division untill someone proves otherwise.I dont see Degale being anything overly special,he'll probably become a world champion but not a top fighter in the sport. His footwork is too slow, his technique is poor ie cuffing/slapping with his punches and he changes stance too much from southpaw to orthodox!Quite often he ends up coming in square on and as you move up levels that will be exploited and you'll end up paying for it!Anyway if the 140 division is packed what about 168?!You have Ward, dirrell, kessler, froch, abraham, bute, bika,Andrade,Green, etc, etc.I think Gavin has a better chance myself.SteveDow wrote:I rate Gavin but I don't believe him to have the potential to be as elite as people on this board make out. Re: Frankie Gavin
Too easy to hit in fights, not much power, and likes a fight when he should box more. European class, before he's beaten, IMO.
And I still remember when he called me a "fuking prik!"

Re: Frankie Gavin
his defence and ring craftmenship is immense, once he is fighting good fighters he won't have to come forward like he does against the journyeman types he has been fighting and will counter punch and show his classDioufy wrote:Too easy to hit in fights, not much power, and likes a fight when he should box more.
