You are not comparing apples with apple there my friend.

Andy has won the Irish title as did Jamie. So basically the only thing Jamie has over Andy is the European title as Andy isn't going to be fighting for the British or Commonwealth titles.

Jamie was five years older and in his 33rd fight before he won the European title - Andy has had 22 fights and dare I say it would happily have jumped in and taken Belgachams position to fight for a European title against Barker.

Sorry to interrupt your Lee bashing but now that that is out of the way you can get back to it.

'Lee bashing', nope. Simply pointing out to the imbecilic poster named Kelly, who did ask, that Moore is sat in retirement with a load of title wins and Andy is currently doing very little. By his 22nd fight Jamie had jumped in late notice to dethrone Michael Jones. You defend Lee by, rightly, pointing out that he isn't eligible for any decent titles so has had to make do with the Irish triumph. I dare say he'll have to do make do with this for quite some time as he won't be winning the Euro any time soon. However, an epic win in this weekend's mammoth fight will no doubt prove that Andy is destined for the top.

To use the apple analogy -- I'm comparing a nice, successful apple (Moore) with a pip, or seed, or whatever an apple grows from, in Lee.

Lee was born in London so entitled to fight for either the British or Commonwealth titles, but much like Duddy, I just cant see him doing that.

Kelly wasn't having a pop at Moore he was merely pointing out that their styles differed greatly and Moores took its toll.

Lee is a much better fighter than you are giving him credit for and in my book every bit as good as Moore ever was, but time will tell who is right with regards that particular topic.

I was replying to Autobarn who was comparing styles, implying that Lee was boring in comparison to Moore. But look at the toll Jamie's style took on him. That's what I meant so get off your high horse. It's funny how Lee is fair game but god forbid anyone says something even slightly negative about Moore and you take offense. Moore isn't British, he's Salfordian. No one is saying that Lee is boring, the guy got hit more than a nympho's poontang during a R & R weekend in Vietnam during his defeat. He'll ship a load more punches down the line and was certainly there to hit in a few of his wins. This isn't a virtual version of the rape and dominion of Ireland, a vast majority of posters simply don't rate the guy, the rest are simply bored and Mick, well he's simply red.

That said, the 160lb division is so barren that you can never write anyone off. If Lee has to go through Barker or Macklin then he'll fall, if he can swerve them he may just grab an inter-yer mam belt or two.

it's a pretty good weight. good fights involving prospects and contenders- macklin vbarker, pirog v jacobs (vacant title, on this weekend's GBP card), soon golovkin v n'jikam (WBA regular title), and obviously an excellent champ in martinez.

bit better than when we had hopkins hugging, fouling and play acting vs echols and allen. potentially.

I made a remark earlier in the thread and then made an argument against Lee. I've pissed about a bit since but you've lost the plot as you lack the ability to argue your point and the talent to knock anything creative together. So you've resorted to throwing insults at someone who doesn't deserve to be mentioned by you.

My family come from Kilkenny, where they can take a bit of irony and self-depreciation and I've made plenty of jokes/remarks about the Brits. It is called perspective.

They're not strictly anti-Irish are they? If I said that the Welsh have a right cross to bear living next to the English then I'd be lauded. Or if I made a joke about lobster-skinned Brits strolling around Spain swigging lager then there'd be barely a murmur. You lot need to learn the difference between a bit of nationalistic banter and making inflammatory statements.

Saying Churchill sent over the loonies is actually getting at the behaviour of the English way back when, it is hardly condoning it.

Eff me, any person who visits Kilkenny or Cork, be they English or Irish, makes jokes about the amount of pubs pushed together in such a small space and then gives out a few drinking cracks. The people who live in Kilkenny can pretty much write you a book of anti-Dublin jokes, that doesn't make them racist against their own race. It is called having a bit of nous when it comes to this type of thing.

If you want to advocate the banning of so-called anti-Irish jokes then do the same for jokes about the Americans, English, Welsh and other races that it is acceptable to denigrate as long as you are use specific words.

Anyway, I watched The Crying Game the other day,double whammy, gives me the scope to make jokes about the Irish and queers -- I assume that we're still allowed to bash the queers?

My entire social calender depends upon the answer to the above question.

In the meantime, I can't promise that I'll regulate what I say about any one race. If you don't like it then complain and they can ban me if need be.

Well not really. Andy has said that he signed the waiver release form for television and that if there is a KO then his fight is top of the list. So as Donavan George aint called "Da Bomb" for nowt then I would say there is a fair chance of an appearance.

Worth the gamble and he still gets a pay day either way, the exposure is a bonus.
