5 round brawl, great action guaranteed. They may trade a coupla knockdowns before Moore takes Quarry's head off with an overhand right.

Depends if we're talking "peak" Moore or not. Either way, whether it's peak or past-prime blah blah, I see Moore winning. No disrespect to Quarry but you need more than being tough as leather to beat Moore. Moore also beat some quality heavies.

Everything about a fighter "is what it is". But if Quarry was "cut proof", I would say he could hold his own with any HW in history.

He had the chops, the chin, the will and the skill.

Moore is my favorite all time fighter. But he better slice Jerry up to stop the fight. Not sure he can beat Jerry without that playing a part.

Joe Frazier and Ali beat him. Chuvalo....I aint buyin that win. And he just plain put some of the biggest toughest brawlers in history to sleep.

Quarry may well be one of the most under rated and mis read fighters in history.

Watch this guy...check his fundamentals. I think Jerry even passes granberry muster on the fundamentals.

He would have been champion in many other eras. And he would have given the Rock all he could handle IMHO.

What is the controversy about the Chuvalo - Quarry fight. I watched it once and it looked like Chuvalo just beat him. From memory, Quarry looked hurt when he went down and he didn't beat the count.

I'm a bit surprised by the picks so far because I think Quarry knocks Moore out around the 7th. I just can't see Moore matching Quarry's achievements at HW.

Seamus, better check your judgment....we just agreed on something.

Hmm maybe Moore easily takes this one after all.

How many times did Quarry lose on cuts? Twice? Sometimes I think people confuse him and Wepner.

Anyway, I can envision the crafty Moore winning this matchup but if he does it's by decision and not by knockout. Quarry had a granite chin. Interesting matchup.

No confusion on my part. I think Moore might slice him up though. That's how he wins. Otherwise it's Quarry. Moore could impose cuts, and Jerry was at least a bit susceptible.

Exactly as I see it.

The crafty old Mongoose would sure have his hands full with the likes of Quarry.

p.s. What was Archie's prime fighting weight?

Quarry's prime weight was around 197, as I recall. I reckon he would have a pretty good weight advantage on Moore.

Size isn't an issue here . . .Moore beat quite a few very good heavyweights who were bigger than or as big as Quarry.

Both guys will be looking for the counterpunch. Both have similar speed. Moore has the bette right hand but Jerry the better left hook. It's a very intriguing fight.

I think Moore out crafts Quarry. Quarry was not impervious if cuts
were out of the equation. He would struggle with some of the counters
offered by a prime Moore. It would be a good fight, and both men would
take alot of damage, but I think over the distance Moore maintains an
intensity and is a lot more accurate than Quarry is.

I some what imagine this to be like Jirov-Toney, except no south paw
involved. And Quarry loses some steam and sting after 8 rounds.

Fun to watch, and with these two in the ring anything can really
happen. But I do like Moore for it.
