Good domestic dust up. Good to see Dilks getting the shot at the big name and good to see DeGale willing to take it.

Olympic middleweight champion James "Chunky" DeGale returns to the city where he was roundly booed on his professional debut to face Carl "Dynamite" Dilks in a British title eliminator in Birmingham on September 18, scheduled for 12 rounds.
Super-middleweight DeGale, 7-0 (5), outboxed a Georgian in his first paid outing at the National Indoor Arena last year but the crowd wanted more, or maybe it was the Audley Harrison syndrome, and they heckled him. "They want excitement, they want knockouts - that will come, trust me," said DeGale, and the 24-year-old southpaw Londoner comes off two stoppages of Matthew Barr and Sam Horton respectively, although posters on the British boxrec forum remain unsure of his technique, describing it as "sloppy" and "square on". Harrison, another southpaw, has shown that Olympic success is no guarantee of natural boxing talent these days, many top amateurs merely and robotically adapting to the game's computer-scoring system. Make no mistake this is a big test for DeGale against the strong, ambitious Dilks.
The Liverpool hard man is probably best known for the way he was eliminated from Prizefighter light-heavyweight last year when Dilks was originally declared the points winner of his semi-final against Shaw tiger Darren Stubbs, and he looked the winner, only to be told afterwards that a scoring error had surfaced and he had in fact lost. It cost Carl a chance at the £25,000 first prize, although he was quickly rewarded with a shot at the Commonwealth super-middleweight title in December and conceded a majority 12-round decision to vastly more experienced Ghanaian Charles Adamu. It was always a gamble but a gamble that will have brought him on as a fighter, and Dilks belted out Carl Drake in six rounds in his last appearance in April. Adamu and Stubbs are the only men to have beaten him in 16 contests.
Dilks, a 26-year-old ex-squaddie who you do not want to cheek on the doors in his home city, 'the' fight city in Britain, holds two decisions over Michael Banbula, the transplanted Pole who recently held Tony Jeffries to an eight-round draw, and another over Bob Ajisafe, the tricky Darlington southpaw who was unbeaten going in and challenges Tony Bellew for the Commonwealth light-heavyweight title on September 24 in London. Dilks 'wants' this fight and gets it on one of the biggest cards in this country for many a year, but this one could steal the show. Either way, you get the feeling we will know a helluva lot more about DeGale afterwards.

Really glad this match has come off and would love to see Carl do it, but suspect it'll be a mid-rounds stoppage in favour of Degale. Will be a really useful benchmarking exercise to ascertain Degale's progress and potential.

you cant afford to be tentative like you was against adamu.

personally i think the worst thing to do against degale is put him on the back foot early.he likes to mix it on the inside & is not really effective, just crafty more then anything.

Seems like your thread on here finally paid dividends! Now it's time to go out and prove it. I'm sure a lot of people would be happy to see you give DeGale a good pasting.

I'd even be tempted to give Dilks 20 sexual-favour tokens for him to utilise whenever he wanted if he beat DeGale.
