paul edwards v shinny bayaar british title
think this might be a bit to soon for edwards, hope am wrong tho looks like its happening in novemeber anyone no why sexton is not getting the shot
Re: paul edwards v shinny bayaar british title
tough one this.. eddy can outbox him for me
Re: paul edwards v shinny bayaar british title
Wasn't there meant to be a rematch with Sexton on the cards?
Re: paul edwards v shinny bayaar british title
I think Shinny is more than within his rights to have another defence against someone else before any potential rematch with Sexton. End of the day it was Shinny who was robbed, not the other way round, so why should he grant an immediate rematch unless he gets a big purse offer?
Re: paul edwards v shinny bayaar british title
I saw their first fight live, I didn't think Edwards was anywhere near as effective as his fans (?) or Parris thought he was. the harder, cleaner punches came from Shinny and he was far stronger.
I see a rematch going the same way.
I don't think Parris likes his style, or something because he scored both fights against him, almost diametrically opposed to Foster both times.

My bad. Just saw Edwards and assumed it was a rematch.
The other's name doesn't ring a bell, who is he?

Re: paul edwards v shinny bayaar british title
Young Scouse lad, good talent, might be too soon for him though.
Re: paul edwards v shinny bayaar british title
I may be mixing my fight nights here, but on the same card there was some lad from St Helens against Nappa. He clearly could punch quite hard but just lacked a little experience and boxing brain...can't remember his name, how's he doing?
Re: paul edwards v shinny bayaar british title
That's Gary Davies mate.
He's due to fight Stuart Hall for the British

Re: paul edwards v shinny bayaar british title
Have'nt seen Edwards, hear good things tho but going by the result of beating Andy Bell and Anwar Alfadli who has'nt won a fight out of 8 only by a round i think this fight has come way to quick for him...
Re: paul edwards v shinny bayaar british title
I don't think it has come too soon for Eddy, I see him every day and he definitely has the beatings of Bayaar who for me is very tough and strong as well as fit - but it ends there with all the respect in the world to him.
Paul is an ABA champion and beat some very good names in the amateurs. Spars regularly with Stephen Smith and has been begging Maloney for a shot.
Time to deliver!

This fight has come to early for edwards didnt he just about get past a journeyman in his last fight or fight before that? this reminds me of the derry mathews vs choi fight, i think edwards will be stopped inside 5 rounds he may of been a aba champion but this is pro boxing big difference as tony jeffries just found out. shinny will just be to strong and know to much.
Re: paul edwards v shinny bayaar british title
why does this remind u of my fight agains choi mate , maybe because me and paul are best mates and shinney is chois best mate , paul well and truley has the beating of him or he would not have asked for the fight plus george and danny his coaches wouldn allow it as have said many atime they are top coaches and george nose the game inside out , paul will be spot on for this fight an i and rest of close freinds no he is goin to win and the vaughan will have 3 champs , smigga swifty and smiling assasin paul edwards , come on eddy mate time to deliver ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, AND THE NEW xCotto16 wrote:This fight has come to early for edwards didnt he just about get past a journeyman in his last fight or fight before that? this reminds me of the derry mathews vs choi fight, i think edwards will be stopped inside 5 rounds he may of been a aba champion but this is pro boxing big difference as tony jeffries just found out. shinny will just be to strong and know to much.
Re: paul edwards v shinny bayaar british title
Shinny is one of those fighters, I think what he does is very subtle, very easy to under-estimate, but then people get in the ring with him and he nicks rounds off them and is very tough. People obviously watch him, who have been good amateurs etc and think, yeah I'd beat him easy.
I think getting in the ring with a man like Shinny will be a wake up call for any young pro. I have barely seen Paul Edwards fight to be honest so can't judge him, all I can see is a young pro, not been pro long and not that good record (yet) against a guy who is tough as old boots and come through in a very tough school and who has fought the top british people at his weight.
On paper it looks like Edwards could do with some more tough tests before taking on Shinny (e.g. his namesake Chris Edwards). Who knows what he has in his locker but the sensible money would have to be on the experience of Shinny. The main thing going against Shinny is he couldn't sell out a phone box so is never gona get many favours on 'away' shows, I mean they almost gave the title to Sexton when I had him 4-5 rounds down! It doesn't get much more blatant than that.

Can't find any footage of Edwards, but going by his record, this fight is coming way too soon.
Re: paul edwards v shinny bayaar british title
As a very 'quick and dirty' look at someone's record I think it is always telling to see how much 'green' there is on their opponents records. Apart from Andy Bell I don't see that Edwards has taken on anyone who is any sort of winner, so that is one decent fight on his record. Big jump to take on the british champ but these are the gambles that happen at the lower weights. If I was Edwards I'd wait for another couple of fights and try and get some more 'winners' on his record, but alas it looks like the fight is going to happen so I await to be proven wrong.crusader wrote:Can't find any footage of Edwards, but going by his record, this fight is coming way too soon.

Re: paul edwards v shinny bayaar british title
Some of you say this fight is coming to soon for young Edwards but how many flyweights are there in European or the Uk. So when a chance comes alone you have to take it, All so a fight like this can only help a young fighter Edwards has nothing to lose by taking this fight, O sorry his unbeating record which so many people place to much on. Did Munroe not lose a british title fight very early in his career but look how he learn from it, All so Team Edwards fancy the fight the heading NOTHING TO LOSE EVERYTHING TO GAIN

Whats happening with Ashley Sexton then?FtmPress wrote:Some of you say this fight is coming to soon for young Edwards but how many flyweights are there in European or the Uk. Re: paul edwards v shinny bayaar british title
Oldham's Shinny Bayaar defends his British flyweight title against Liverpool's Paul Edwards in November.
Bayaar won the title last year with a hard-earned decision over Stoke hard man Chris Edwards (no relation) and turned back the challenge of the preocious Ashley Sexton with a 12-round draw earlier this year. The rugged, seasoned champion, who was cut both times, is a hard man to discourage and hasn't lost since then British bantamweight champion Martin Power failed to budge him in a 10-rounder in London in 2004.
To Edwards, an unbeaten 23-year-old who looks promising but also untested at 7-0 (1), although he is a former ABA champion and has "nothing to lose and everything to gain" in the words of Frank Maloney. The Crayford promoter belives this fight will bring Edwards on as a fighter, win or lose, much as it did the world class Rendall Munroe after he was outscored for the British featherweight title by Andy Morris in 2006. Only this year we saw an inexperienced Darlington man, Stuart Hall, force stoppage victories over the much more experienced duo of Ian Napa and Power at bantamweight. Bayaar is tight at flyweight and 33 by the time of the fight, so it is well worth the step up.
Inevitably though, one has to side with Bayaar.

Re: paul edwards v shinny bayaar british title
Don Broadhurst stepped up to face a more experienced pro very earlier in his career... gotta go with bennie on this one if i was betting money on it, i'd be backing Shinny.
