I hear Kiko Martinez may get another shot for the Vacant European crown on the same bill, make up for a good night of boxing. That Martinez kid must know some powerful people the amount of shots he gets.

Its all in the article posted above hombre. Kiko is to face French based Armenian Arsen Maritosyan - the winner is likely to face either Paulie Hyland or Willie Casey.

Looks a decent enough card. The Cubans are good and Martinez is exciting should be a good card though

He is no worse than some of the other European challengers in the past year or so. He is ranked No.11 by the EBU which is on par with the likes of Buckland, Belghecam, Scott Lawton, Rodrigo Bracco et co. To be fair to Magee, he went into the lions den to win the belt and has often been lambasted for not fighting regulary and found it hard to get opponents in the past due to him being considered too high risk and very little reward. At least this will keep him busy and he is able to fight in front of his home crowd.

yes very true, it is the ebu's fault for letting these kind of matches happen, when there are people who actually deserve there shot. if magee wants to fight for a world title then he should be fighting world ranked fighters but hey like you said he deserves a comfortable defence and an easy payday

I find it strange how anyone from Team Smigga or his promotional company or his friends can in anyway blame Brian Magee for the Smigga fight not happening.

If Smigga was so desperate for the fight with Magee then he had I acknowledge a hard choice to make and that was to vacate his British Belt and fight for what would have been the "challengers" purse - but at the end of the fight if confidence is anything to go by and the claims by Team Smigga about their man he would have been European Champion.

I like Smigga in a weird sort of way :TU: however to put the blame on Team Magee is complete and utter b*llocks.

Perhaps if "options" were not such a glaring demand Team Magee may have signed the contract.

In addition on top of that the location of the fight and on top of that the demands from the challengers camp to have a 50/50 cut of the purse is unreasonable to say the very least.

Team Smigga will claim that the purse bids or neogitiations were surrounding the British Title - that is their get out - when in reality the smoke screen did not work as the European Champion has decided to go for another opponent.

:TU: - just my take on things.

Spud you are right 100% on one point - If we were so desperte for the fight then things would be different. But we're not, I'm certainly not. I'd love the EBU title, I'd go to Belfast and fight him at his own gym - A ring is a ring.
Facts are that there's bigger fights and paydays out there for both of us and Magee withdrew from pursebids.
I respect Magee, but I know I would beat him. If the fight happens it will be because I get to mandatory by the EBU :TU:

Thank you for the reply !!!

I have entirely more serious response than your relaxed one!!!

I find it utterly incredibly f*cking stupid why Magee v Smigga is not taking place!!!

Its a tremendous fight and one the fans want to see and one in which Team Magee would have defo taken if it were not for the demands.

Finally - we differ on who we think would win the fight!!! :shame: :TU: :shame:
