I've a mate who used to box; didn't win a bout and got disqualified half a dozen times; Rob Harper. He doesn't give a monkeys about anyone and can punch for fun; it is funny coz he looks like a fatty now and he gets lots of deadeye off the young hard nuts; he can go (they used to call him 'Psycho' at the Ingles gym at Wincobank. Another lad round here was John Oxenham; he lost to Garry Delaney and Bruce Scott; he can go; no one kicks sand in his face believe me. There's a lad was on Prizefighter a few months ago who is a gangster type who has got someone half his size chasing him around and causing him grief.

The best with a ref and globes aren't necessarily yhe best on.the street and vice versa.

Saw a Prizefighter finalist handle himself very competently outside the ring in a club over in Bromborugh....... He KO'd a couple of lads with single shots as a brawl kicked off!!!! I'd say his punch power looked better out the ring than in it!!! DD

If he ever got into a row I swear he was NEVER the one to start it but where he was big and had this reputation people wanted to try it on... OB used to literally sit there and wait till he had finished with the bloke before they went near it because he was an absolute terror. One bloke had a mate with him who tried to join in when his mate was taking a pasting... he threw him out the window of this boozer almost as a reflex - no thought in it he just lobbed the geezer into the road and then carried on punching the other bloke into the floor. Moved to France in the end which was weird because as far as I knew he'd never left the county before let alone the country.
