Ex heavyweight Neil Malpass is not a bully

Post by palooka »

On a thread a few weeks ago I posted that ex pro Neil Malpass could still knock them in his 50's but was a bully. It has been pointed out that Neil Malpass is not a bully and I must have been wrong. (There are some terrible stories around Doncaster about things that Malpass has done and I have to say that they may not all be correct).

Has he got in touch?

I have heard the same things as you to be honest. Good fighter in his day though and should have done more with his career. :box:

Neil was regarded as the next big thing after he blew away Danny McAlinden and Kris Smith in the 1970s, the latter televised by the Beeb; then some bright spark matched him with the horribly awkward Tommy Kielty and his bubble was well and truly burst.

Anyone know Why Paul Sykes got disqualified when he fought Malpass the first time?

Sykes was prone to erratic behaviour if things didn't go his way. The Malpass fight is one example; his British title fight against John L Gardner was another. Frustrated and confused as Gardner drove forward relentlessly despite being hit with some big shots, Sykes turned his back on his opponent so the referee stopped it.
when the going got tough he out and out quit
