Hare conqueror gets title shot.

Post by stujones »

Well, it looks like we will get see Cosmo Riveria's long awaited shot at the IBF Welterweight title (vs Zab Judah) as it has been added to the Trinidad vs Wright card, which Sky are showing live.

Could be interesting, I'm still not set on Judah - I thought Spinks was winning the rematch at the time of the stoppage (although, Judah was getting on top). He might under estimate Riveria.

Riveria is solid at the weight and that good might have a factor - because Spinks' is not the strongest physically at the weight.

You've got to tip Judah, but intriguing fight though.

Good post Stu I think this will be the sleeper fight on this bill. Rivera certainly wont get blown away unless he lets the occasion get to him and has a lot of talent and by what he said today no shortage of confidence

"I'm one of the greatest Mexican fighters of all-time, right there with Chavez and (Carlos) Palomino, and I'll prove it against Judah, Rivera said. I'm going to show the world what I'm all about.
Once I beat Zab it'll set-up big money fights for me against Oscar (De La Hoya) or (Shane) Mosley.....All of those boxing insiders who think this is going to be a one-sided fight haven't followed my career.
I can't wait. Judah is wearing my belts. He's never fought anybody with my heart and determination. I'm a Mexican and we're all about heart. Nobody's every knocked me down. I've been waiting my whole career for this opportunity. I'm going to bring the fight to him."
