Katie had won her 3rd eu title, there was a few other irish girls at those championships pity RTE did not give them a bit more time just for encouragement

Re: GO KATIE GO
She is a star. Simple as that really. The Olympics cannot come soon enough for her. She can really set womens boxing alight if she turns pro, remember the crowd during her fight on the Dunne-Cordoba undercard, any male professional would kill for that sort of support ?
Re: GO KATIE GO
women boxing disgust's me still :!: :!:
many have converted & appreciate there effort's, but seeing a women in labour surpasses it a milllion fold.
anyone who enjoy's a women fighting is like a peedo imo.

I never understand these arguments.
To say someone who enjoys women's boxing is "like a peedo" is bloody stupid and offensive.
Re: GO KATIE GO
I am not really a fan of female boxing because the quality is so low. Of course there are always exceptions like Katie Taylor, Anne Wolfe, Rjiker, etc...
Re: GO KATIE GO
This comment really pissed me off but I'm not going to stoop to your level of ignorance to reply back like I feel I should. What I will say is watch this girl box and see if it changes your mind and hopefully you won't feel like a 'paedo'hurlock wrote:women boxing disgust's me still :!: :!:

X2 An that's by a mile I believe she could win a pro world title in her first fight she's that goodOld bones Ian wrote:I'm not a fan of womens boxing, but Katie is the most skilled girl i've seen box.
Re: GO KATIE GO
The top amateurs are great to watch. What often gives women's boxing a bad name is complete mismatches, but this blights men's boxing too.
Re: GO KATIE GO
apologies for saying peedo, that was out of order.
ive seen some girl's & they are extremely talented, just dont like seeing women hit.

x3. At first I refused to even watch her because I dont like the thoughts of it but she stole the undercard show on the dunne-cordoba bill and made a convert of me.Old bones Ian wrote:I'm not a fan of womens boxing, but Katie is the most skilled girl i've seen box.
on a side note I watched the first even female pro fight in Ireland last night and it wasnt pretty viewing

They choose to take part in the sport, just as men do, and are governed by strict standards, just as men are. Thats the point.hurlock wrote:

I don't like unprovoken violence against men or women, but boxing is a sport, the context is very different.

Re: GO KATIE GO
Some of the stuff written on here about women's boxing is depressing.
Mismatches aren't worth watching whatever the fighters' gender.
Nothing wrong at all with top-class women's boxing.

Nothing wrong with it but who wants to watch it?nh1 wrote:

Cant ever see me watching it to be honest - it just doesn't sit right with me - if that makes me old fashioned and out dated, then so be it.
Re: GO KATIE GO
like there's nothing wrong with women growing beards & dressing like men & calling themself's colin.
Re: GO KATIE GO
Women compete in all sports nowadays so why not boxing, Taylor is a class act and not only in boxing she is an international footballer as well, the best of luck to Katie she is worth everything she gets or wins, and best of all she is not a braggart or mouthpiece like a big lot of the men boxing today
Re: GO KATIE GO
Why post on a thread that is congratulating a female boxer on a fnatastic effort then?hurlock wrote:women boxing disgust's me still :!: :!:
Re: GO KATIE GO
No you didn't http://boxrec.com/show_display.php?show_id=526599, Jill Emery vs Angel McKenzie on a Dunne undercard a few years ago. Also http://boxrec.com/show_display.php?show_id=533508 not sure about the legitimacy of that fight, you'd have to ask the BUI but that means Saturday night was neither the first female pro fight in Ireland(it definitely wasn't that) or the first time a female Irish pro fought in Ireland.slapbangwhallop wrote:x3. Good competitive fight(although the scoring was a bit wide) involving Taylor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUvCqQ2Xe8o
