Brian Magee vs Robert Stieglitz

Post by lefty »

If Magee was to get a shot at Stieglitz would he be good enough to beat him? From what ive seen so far id say no!I think Karoly Balzsay who is a southpaw like magee is better than Brian and yet Stieglitz stopped him in the end so i think stieglitz would be too much for Magee.Whats everyone elses thoughts?

good match up should it happen, and if magee stays busy enough during the fight, depending on where it takes place, he could win it. It would be his hardest fight bar froch IMO.

The reason why id give the edge to stieglitz is that i think he's a little quicker, fresher, has more power and also a better chin.

i would not argue with that, the freshness may be a factor. I still think Magee poses a threat, just hope he hasn't left it too late at 35 to get his shot

Magee's chin would be an issue I think. He always seems to have his mouth wide open after a few rounds which is a surefire way of asking to get put on your backside.

He is extremely under-rated in terms of skill and workrate etc but at against the current World champs I think he gets stopped by all of them. In saying that as far as I know he hasn't been knocked down in a long time so he may have improved in this area if that is possible.

I agree with your analysis, magee has good ability but he's not getting any younger and he's slowed down abit i think which is normal as you age but i just dont see him beating the likes of stieglitz. He definietly wouldnt beat guys like ward, dirrell, bute, abraham and kessler and froch. He'd have a decent shot against sartison though who's the weakest out of the bunch i think.

Magee would fancy his chances against Stieglitz and Sartizon.

If he brings it like he did against larsen, he would have a good chance, but he'd be foolhardy to take a fight in Germany, better option to fight over in ireland or uk.

I'd make him favourite if that was the case.
