Danny Williams comeback?

Post by stujones »

Lets hope it's not true.

But apparently Danny Williams has been in talks for a fight in September with Alex Lupai in Australia. I know this was mentioned before, but I think this is a fresh story.

Lupai fights Owen Beck on Thursday.

The Tyson victory can get him Gatekeeper fights ad infinitum, so it's whether he's happy with decent paydays and some foreign travel at the expense of a few potential mullerings.

No I don't like Danny Williams! He cost me 185 quid once! - Probably about the same amount he'd get paid for a fight these days!!!

I like Danny, and I like him because he has guts; Potter, Tyson and the Airich fights stick out to me, but if he comes back, then I really don't care if he gets hurt or not. He admitted he was shot going in against Chisora, so what's he thinking about fighting again? Total madness.

The Chisora fight was a joke, he should have got his purse suspended. A lot of my respect for him went for him that night.

He showed absoloutley nothing against Chisora kept putting his head down behind his Shoulder as if this was a great defence and walking back as chisora threw punches

I dont know that stats but i dont reckon Danny threw many punches in that fight

the stoppage was well predicted before the fight and was always going to happen

I like Danny*, but he's done. His punch resistance has gone, so he can't even do a 'Julius Francis' i.e. plod around for 36 minutes without getting stopped

* I had a tenner on him to beat Tyson at 7/1

The Tyson night was great

one of the rare ocasions i could get my non boxing fan mates up due to the Tyson Factor
Tyson looked great for a round or 2 and then Danny Held in there and slayed the Beast.

Great night

Just chatted to Danny and he asked me to come on here and say it's all rubbish! Apparently they've offered him the fight on two occasions, and says that he still gets offers even now after retirement. He knows he's shot and he said that anyone who wasn't convinced should look at the tape of the Chisora fight. In his words: "That's what you call shot!"

Fair play to him. He had a fine career and is doing the right thing.

Alex Leapai beat Owen Beck in Australia last night! And apparantly said the fight against Danny Williams is on for a months time! Leapai is alot more explosive than Derek Chisora (and he doesn't bite as much!) should be all over in 30 seconds!!!!!

You can always rely on Danny to say it how it is :TU:

Danny "People say they never know what Danny is gonna turn up to a fight...... well I don't either" (words to that effect)

He's conned the paying public a lot also though Chambers, how many times did we hear "oh I haven't been as motivated for a fight since Klitchsko" or "I'm back and better than ever".

Yeah, on the Fightnews report he says "I AM" fighting Danny Williams, not "in discussions to", or words to that effect.

Danny has been shot to hell for years.
Although he was never an Ali or Patterson in his prime he could do most things well for such a big heavy out of shape man.

of course he always had his psychological issues which could make him turn in poor performances when he was expected to do well and good ones when the pressure was off.

But these days its so sad to see him being smacked around at will by guys like sosnowski and chisora. Its ungainly to see his 280 pound frame be knocked over and look so foolish.
He had a very good career he has taken some serious beatings in the last 6 years and also won some very gruelling fights.

The skills and speed he had are all dead now totally shot. He can barely walk straight these days his power and explosiveness he once had against Harrison, mirovic, meehan, and skelton has gone. His heart which no one can question ever, isnt really into training. He will take a beating from any man and show courage but why? Its a shame if he didnt make money cos he is a genuine good guy and the 3rd best British HW of the 2000's. I think in his prime on his best night he could have beaten Haye or given him a bloody good hiding before losing.
A great man i hope if he does carry on and want to travel the world he will fight bums.

Why do boxers find it so hard to give up? Espescially when you have spent the last 2 years being knocked all over the place.
