Demoilitiondaley at Cruiserweight

Post by demolitiondaley »

Just to let anyone who is interested know, I have got my weight down to 14st9lb and will easily burn off another few pound over the next few weeks. I am going to approach the boxing board in September to reapply for my license at cruiserweight. My technique has improved dramatically and I don't get hit half as much as I used to.

There have been rumours that I have been boxing unlicensed, let me clear that up for anyone who that has concerned. I boxed one exhibition bout with a good friend on a charity white collar type show to help raise money for charity and also to give myself a platform to put improved boxing skills to test under a bit of pressure. My friend is also a recent licence holder who I had boxed in the pro's and his license had just expired. It was anounce before the bout started that it was just an exhibition and that no winner would be announced. We have had tougher sparring sessions between us and we wore 16oz gloves.

So I'll hopefully see you all at shows in the new season, it will be nice to fight some guys my own size for a change :DDD

Hope it goes well for you Howard, a new approach was badly needed for your career(if you were to continue it) and that's what you've gone about so best of luck.

Is it straight forward to get your licence back? What do you have to prove to the board, that your fit etc???

Fair play to ya Howard, good luck for the future.

It looks as though you've put the work in to reinvent yourself at 200, so hopefully the board will give you your license back.

Thanks guys, its been a proper hard graft but I needed to do it. I love boxing and hated losing, at this weight I feel fitter, faster and more able to think on my feet. I have also been seeing a sports mind coach who has taught me a few new tricks on the mental preparation side of things (I'll tell you that story when I get my license back). I'm working with Johnney Roye and Sam Betts now 5 days a week in Preston. I'm not a massive ticket seller so struggle to find home shows but at least at cruiserweight I won't have to fight 6ft8 20st prospects. As for proving it to the board TG I have to show them my weight has dropped and my technique has improved. That could be done by way of getting a board member to come to the gym and watch me spar. We'll see what they say when I approach them in september. Watch this space and hopefully you will see me beating up prospects on Sky shows soon :box:
