Smigga v Degale
Anyone else think this fight could be made for middle to end of Jan??
Smigga fighting in October - if he doesnt vacate after that fight - then why not??
Easy for the promoter to negoitiate!!!!

Re: Smigga v Degale
highly unlikely, Smigga will be directed to a WBO title shot, Degale will challenge for the British when Smigga vacates it. No chance FW will risk two of his cash cows against each other.

Ummmm - I think I am getting warm!!!
Smigga fights in October - is it correct you have to defend the Lonsdale Belt 3 times - if so that means another fight in Jan 11.
Degale fights in an eliminator soon.
Why not a massive British Title fight in Jan 11.
Lots of people call me barking mad - but as already stated - I think I am getting warm!!!

Spud ,
Your freezing cold mate , to own the Lonsdale belt you must beat a mandatory. That will be the winner of Anderson and Quigly which will be sorted shortly.
To keep the belt Paul will have to beat the winner of that , why slip in a hard match with Degale before that ???
steve wood
PS - Degale is not certain to beat Carl Dilcs.

Re: Smigga v Degale
I think Paul will be geared toward some kind of interim vacant WBO belt than fight Degale.
Can see Degale being pushed along and fight Paul when the stakes are bigger - I cannot see FW getting one of his brightest prospects and one of his biggest ticket sellers in the ring immediately. It might happen in the future.

Re: Smigga v Degale
I think they are family friends with each other.
Let them both be if you ask me.
Would rather they fought stieglitz, groves etc than each other if im honest.

I am laughing because I know I am even warmer!!!
When a promoter comes on to shout me down then the "no smoke without fire" comes to the fore!!!
Re: Smigga v Degale
spud you know it's easibly makeable & smith's been on the card's along time & frank will pitch him in higher then degale
degale done incredible to win possibly the hardest gold medal which used to be 71kg.anyway smith has fought better in dirrell & pascal imo. & at the time i felt the shorter rds hinder'd smith.
how many more fight's will smith be around for????im sure degale will be longer, two diffrent path's imo, you know the buisness.

Re: Smigga v Degale
I dont see it happening,Why would Fwank match his Olympic gold medalist with probably his best ticket seller?
If Swifty wins the British and Bellew keeps progressing,i can see Smigga going for some version of a title at The Echo in a summer blockbuster next year.

I am being serious - I see absolutely no reason why the fight cannot take place in Jan 11 - whats more I think it will and Mr
W arren and his promotional team will make this fight into a bloody good money earner for all those involved.

Re: Smigga v Degale
I actually want Dilks to win - but just cannot see it - Degale will be even better against opponents who come genuinally to win. Dilks will be confident and that will be his downfall as it will ensure Degale has the necessary openings to take him apart.FIGHTFANs wrote:Degale got to get past Carl Diks first SpudSpud wrote:I am being serious - I see absolutely no reason why the fight cannot take place in Jan 11 - whats more I think it will and Mr

Re: Smigga v Degale
I thought to win one outright, you just needed 3 wins i.e. a win and two defences. If you won, made one defence and lost, then won a 3rd bout for the same belt, you get one to keep.STEVE WOOD wrote:Spud ,

That's why Crawford Ashley had to wait so long to own one.
Re: Smigga v Degale
If DeGale breezes past Dilks, I think Degale could be vunerable to a late KO, especially against someone like Smith, who would take him into the trenches. Therefore, I believe it would be competitive and then I could see Smith taking over and winning. But Smith's also looked tired in fight.
So who knows what would happen.

So who knows what would happen.
Re: Smigga v Degale

So a fighter with no confidence is going to be DeGale's Kryptonite?Spud wrote:I actually want Dilks to win - but just cannot see it - Degale will be even better against opponents who come genuinally to win. I know what you're saying but by the same token...what the fkk are you saying?
I think Smith will get his Lonsdale belt before any DeGale match is made.
Re: Smigga v Degale
That used to be the case until about 8 or 9 years back, then they changed it to a win and 3 defences(one has to be a mandatory).orbtastic wrote:I thought to win one outright, you just needed 3 wins i.e. a win and two defences. Re: Smigga v Degale
Degale would easily beat Smith. Lets remember Smith was outpointed by Blundell and only got a split decision over Quigley.
Dilks is out of his league with Degale and will be beaten down.

Re: Smigga v Degale
why would this fight happen?
smith seems as thouhg he's being moved upward by FW.
degale is a prospect being groomed for the top.
they'll both have different routes, and they'll get their chances at different times.
if smith gets beaten and appears faded, you'd think then it might have a chance to happen.
