What a load of SHITE.
You're suggesting Frankie Gavin will quit when a fight gets hard because of the way he posts on boxrec!?
You can't pigeon-hole people into categories like that. Not every bully falls apart when bullied back, not every Mexican is tough!(another one of your previous posts  ) and not every boxer has a great ability of taking stick. Ok so Frankie has had little outbursts in the past but some people don't see the difference between "internet world" and real life. I didn't and I had the same mentality at first, wanting to find people's addresses out and stuff! :witzend:  :bag:
You get to grow up and learn that some people would drive you crazy if you let them.

With regards to your popularity contest, there's no 'boxrec forum likeable' title  BUT....
Curtis Woodhouse is known by people for being a footballer turned boxer - No offence at all meant. :shame:
Frankie Gavin is known and respected nationwide for being a world amateur champion and because he can fight - no gimmicks. :TU:
You make some good points Paul but I'm going to stck wit my opinion for now. I haven't seen another fighter ever come on a forum with the attitude of Gavin. Calling people pricks and so on. It just smacks of a bully mentality. As I said, I don't know the chap but at some point in the future, we will learn whether or not I am right. It's the kind of conversation that will go round in circles until either Gavin comes through serious adversity or doesn't.

Personally I think he would beat Curtis. However there is no doubt that Curtis is much more likeable if you are going off what has been posted on the forum.

You have stated that I am "negative" in the past. I see myself as realistic rather than negative, however I see how that pragmatism could be misconstrued for negativity.

As for the concept of finding it difficult to separate the internet and real life, are you having a laugh mate? An internet forum is not real life and if anyone thinks it is, then maybe they should seek councilling.

Gavin doesnt strike me as a bully at all,the only thing id say is maybe he's too senstive if anything and easy to wind up but he certainly doesnt come across as a bully to me!I think he is entitled to say those things after the comments that Curtis supposedly said about him.At the end of the day they're both professional fighters and they can look after themselves.im sure Curtis doersnt feel bullied by any of the things Frankie has said but rather understands its the nature of the beast!

good point. how many of us have been drawn into massive rows, with name calling, when we first started going on forums, or when we were very young. a lot. and if you're the subject of a discussion, especially boxers who get insulted and overanalyzed, it's easy to get drawn in. when you have to potential rivals online, you are going to see an uglier side to it. same with khan vs the tim bradley impersonator, khan-malignaggi on twitter. have to say berto is the one who really has something to be embarrassed about, with what he posted about valero's wife.

Your arse will go? Bloody hell Frankie, I don't want too see that during a fight :D

I can't believe people take internet forum posters who criticise boxers seriously. I'm sure Frankie, with with his Warren contract, undefeated pro record and world champs gold medal will sleep easy at night without worrying about someone on the internet slating him. If I didn't have such a dislike for being punched in the face, I'd happily swap positions with him.

Nothing wrong with a bit of slating on the forum.

Gavin comes across as a decent fella for me. Loves his boxing and takes it seriously.

From what I have seen so far he has some serious talent. No one knows what will happen in the years to come, but if he keeps his head down and works hard, he looks to have the talent to do well out of boxing.

As for a fight with Woodhouse, I would like to see it. I know that Curtis would give it his all and genuinely go in to try and win the fight. For me Gavin is on a different level skill wise, but it would still be an entertaining fight.

Do I recall that correctly that the guy who was called a "prik" by Gavin, wrote later that he would "let it slide"? What was the other alternative? Get out from behind the computer and start throwing right handers?

I`ve been called worse than prik many times. Water off a duck`s back mate.

You're refering about me there, and yes I did say I would let it slide, not because it hurt my feelings and I wanted a dust-up, but because I wanted to watch Gavin's career in an objective way. If you believe that Frankie calling me a prick in anyway hurt my pride, then you are grossly deluded.

I got called a worse name by my girlfriend this morning for not doing the washing up last night.

An individual's internet personality can often be a facade. In all honesty Frankie is probably the nicest and most humble/modest boxer I have ever met. He tends to under-rate his own ability and is always willing to learn/improve. He is not big headed at all, quite the opposite infact. He may be a bully in the ring but definitely not out of the ring. I have the utmost respect for Frankie.

This is the opinion of an 'armchair fan' as opposed to someone who lives and breathes the sport like most posters seem to.

As a fighter, I’m sure Mr. Gavin can go all the way. He's young, British and undefeated so I think everyone will get behind him. When I’ve seen him interviewed on TV, he seems likeable and even quite erudite for such a young man.

However, he doesn't seem to do himself many favours on this forum. His posts are barely legible and his willingness to lower himself to the level of the crowd seems misguided. Maybe he could take a leaf out of Mr. Bellew's book who undoubtedly has won more fans by the way he handles himself on here.

It doesn't matter what happens in the gym, or in real life, what matters - at least to knobs like Markp - what the impression he gets of other people via a boxing forum.

Markp, if it bothers you that much why don't you go down Frankie's gym, put on the gloves and have a round of sparring - give him a lesson he won't forget, eh ? If the gym is a long way from your neck of the woods, don't worry, I'll give you a lift. I'll even hold your coat while you knock ten bells out of Frankie :TU:

Us boxing fans have it easy - we don't train, we don't fight, we don't have to make weight, we don't have manager/trainer/promoter issues, we can take it or leave any element of the sport, including slagging off whoever we like, we generally don't rely on the sport for a living (apologies, for generalising, to those who do), and because we're anonymous, we can be rock hard know-alls from the safety of our keyboard.

You've got a bloody nerve coming onto a boxing forum and laying into real fighters, making smug moral judgements over them. They're doing it for real - we live it through them because we can't do it ourselves. I'm honoured those guys come on here and post. If its all as bad as you make out (last month you were slagging off David Haye) why are you a boxing fan ?

Its easy to sit behind a keyboard and put the boot into Frankie Gavin, why not pop down his gym and give him what for ? Just remember to wear brown shorts :DDD
