Firsly you say winning titles doesn't warrant a place then in the next breath defend Audley Harrison, McDonnel and a few others shooting up the rankings because they have won EBU titles.(I like Audley & JMc, it's just an example)
In the next breath you say it's the quality of opposition that gets people in and out of your rankings.
The European title is more prestigious than the British title. Winning a respected title
does help a boxer to enter the rankings or move up them, but level of opposition is more important.
Harrison entered the rankings mostly because he won the European title, the win against Sprott was a decent win but Harrison would have been lucky to enter the rankings at all if he faced Sprott in a non-title fight. I probably made a mistake in giving Harrison such a high entry spot just because he won the European title, as I have suggested previously.
McDonnell beat Napa before he won the European title, so he had already entered the rankings and earned a good win before his European title win and defence, so his situation is not the same as Harrison's.

Why not just remove them, then re-enter them the following month if they fight again? It is only monthly after all and only for fun, no one's reputation or feelings are being hurt.
The most inactive fighters in the rankings are Nicky Cook: just under 18 months of inactivity & Ricky Hatton: just over 15 months of inactivity. Neither fighter has announced retirement and I believe both fighters would still be able to compete at a high level if they came back.
I can respect that others would have removed both of them from their rankings for being inactive for over 12 months. However, I do things my way and I don't see the need to remove fighters for inactivity. Over time inactive fighters will be overtaken by more active fighters, so is there a need to remove them?

I am just a guy who likes boxing and does a monthly British top 30 P4P ranking. My knowledge/ignorance of the sport can be judged by reading my posts.

It's just that no boxer on here can comment on these rankings without looking like a prick. So I will try to do so while risking looking a prick for the sake of getting my points across.
I for one don't think you are coming across as a prick. I believe that you are just expressing your honest opinion of these rankings.

All the best

What sytem or criteria would work that would produce good P4P rankings? I think human discretion and consideration of multiple factors works better to create an accurate P4P list, rather than being a stickler to a formula that simply doesn't work in some situations.
I don't claim to have found a perfect P4P formula, this monthly ranking that I do is just my opinion. I try to be fair, but I am never likely to please everyone.
Thank you for posting a reply to my rankings, Mr. Smith. Good luck in your October fight against McDermott. If you beat McDermott then you are very likely to enter the rankings (not that I think you care).
