Barker was ranked 14th in May after his last fight, but has since fallen to 18th as Murray, McCloskey, McDonnell and Hatton have overtaken him.

Barker's win over Belghecham wasn't very convincing, so I didn't think he should have gone any higher after that win.

Macklin beat Elcock when he was the British No.1 and ranked 17th in the British Top 30 P4P rankings. He also beat Asikainen who was ranked in the top 10 in the World by Ring magazine at the time. Barker hasn't beaten any current or former British Top 30 P4P fighters nor has he beaten any World class fighters.

I think that Macklin's record is better than Barker's, so that is why he is ahead of him in the rankings. If Barker beats Macklin in September then he will go ahead of him.

If he keeps winning then he will climb up the list.

Chisora has not done enough to merit a place in the top 30.

If he beats Sexton in September then he will be very likely to enter the rankings.

A lot of fighters that hold the British title are not in the top 30. Chisora's win over Williams doesn't count for a lot because Williams seemed to be completely shot, and his win over Sexton was over two years ago when they were both inexperienced.

Chisora being unbeaten doesn't really matter, as his level of opposition is not currently good enough to qualify him for a top 30 place.

Where did you hear/read this?

Martinez and Peters suggested that Dunne might be willing to make a come back in a recent article, but I thought they might just be trying to build more interest in Martinez's European title fight that is taking place in Ireland.

Speaking at the launch of a European influenced show at the Fighting Irish exhibition in GAA Head Quarters the promoter revealed, “Paulie Hyland and Willie Casey are both in contention if Kiko comes through what is a tough fight on September 11. But there are options and some great fights there. I think Bernard could get itchy feet and himself and Kiko could certainly be a fight down the road. In boxing you never know.”

Horse you have too many contradictions with "your rankings"
Firsly you say winning titles doesn't warrant a place then in the next breath defend Audley Harrison, McDonnel and a few others shooting up the rankings because they have won EBU titles.(I like Audley & JMc, it's just an example)
In the next breath you say it's the quality of opposition that gets people in and out of your rankings.
Secondly, your rankings are monthly - They're released on the stroke of midnight every month without fail, yet you keep fighters in that haven't fought in years just because they haven't announced their retirement.
Why not just remove them, then re-enter them the following month if they fight again? It is only monthly after all and only for fun, no one's reputation or feelings are being hurt.

Thirdly Horse, shouldn't the boxers and fans who's criticisms you ask for get to know who the man who's rating them or their mates is? There are a hell of a lot of respected and knowledgeable men that visit this site and it would be interesting to know if you're one of them.

This is not one bit of sour grapes so please don't think that or that I'm being funny - I run the risk of sounding it but I don't kick the dog each month for not being on your list or anything, honestly. :witzend:
It's just that no boxer on here can comment on these rankings without looking like a prick. So I will try to do so while risking looking a prick for the sake of getting my points across. The main one being, if you want to have a respected rankings system then you have to stick to a criteria and system 100%

All the best :TU:

The European title is more prestigious than the British title. Winning a respected title does help a boxer to enter the rankings or move up them, but level of opposition is more important.

Harrison entered the rankings mostly because he won the European title, the win against Sprott was a decent win but Harrison would have been lucky to enter the rankings at all if he faced Sprott in a non-title fight. I probably made a mistake in giving Harrison such a high entry spot just because he won the European title, as I have suggested previously.

McDonnell beat Napa before he won the European title, so he had already entered the rankings and earned a good win before his European title win and defence, so his situation is not the same as Harrison's.

The most inactive fighters in the rankings are Nicky Cook: just under 18 months of inactivity & Ricky Hatton: just over 15 months of inactivity. Neither fighter has announced retirement and I believe both fighters would still be able to compete at a high level if they came back.

I can respect that others would have removed both of them from their rankings for being inactive for over 12 months. However, I do things my way and I don't see the need to remove fighters for inactivity. Over time inactive fighters will be overtaken by more active fighters, so is there a need to remove them?

I am just a guy who likes boxing and does a monthly British top 30 P4P ranking. My knowledge/ignorance of the sport can be judged by reading my posts.

I for one don't think you are coming across as a prick. I believe that you are just expressing your honest opinion of these rankings.

What sytem or criteria would work that would produce good P4P rankings? I think human discretion and consideration of multiple factors works better to create an accurate P4P list, rather than being a stickler to a formula that simply doesn't work in some situations.

I don't claim to have found a perfect P4P formula, this monthly ranking that I do is just my opinion. I try to be fair, but I am never likely to please everyone.

Thank you for posting a reply to my rankings, Mr. Smith. Good luck in your October fight against McDermott. If you beat McDermott then you are very likely to enter the rankings (not that I think you care). :TU:

Putting Matthew Hatton so high on the list is a joke. He hasn't fought a decent opponent in a while. He only managed a draw against N'dou for a so called world title. If the Witter fight goes ahead and he manages to win then i would accept his position on the list.

Hatton probably fought his best opponent so far, former interim WBA champion Yuriy Nuzhnenko, just under a month ago.

If Hatton beats Witter then he deserves to go higher.

What is so impressive about what the fighters below Hatton are doing that makes his position a joke?
