The thing is JC would win this fight right now. In a years time, who knows?
But, I can see why JC doesn't want it. There is no upside to winning and, if he loses, he's done
That's why my respect for Hatton has increased. Whatever FW's motivation ( a good loser is just as valuable as a person who wins all the time but beats up stiffs ) I think RH is really up for this fight and really believes he can win it
I suspect, JC is having his long dark teatime of the soul right now and knows that he only has a few more fights to line his pocket before he has to quit of take a live fight that he knows he will lose. The shame is that, if he had taken a decent fight even only a year- eighteen months ago, he probably could have beaten all but the very elite
He will have lots of cash when he retires but I suspect he will find the lack of achievement in his career had to live with.

Joe Calzaghe talked just as Froch is now before he won the title, remember he was eager to get in with Steve Collins before Eubank had to take up the challenge. and Calzaghe was 24yrs old at the time. after 22 fights and 4yrs as a pro.
Froch is dragging his feet he`s 27yrs old and only had 14fights against poor opposition so far, can he afford to carry on as slow as he has been doing? its shit or bust for him now, its no wonder he`s eager to get in with Calzaghe, how long has he got??

Maneging to cleverly forgett that Froch spent a little time getting a damn impressive ametre carrer including a medle at the world ameter championships of 2001. I don't think the what was Calzageh doing at that age argument works all that well a better question woud be what was calzageh doing at this stage in his carreer.tonyevs wrote:Joe Calzaghe talked just as Froch is now before he won the title, remember he was eager to get in with Steve Collins before Eubank had to take up the challenge. and Calzaghe was 24yrs old at the time. after 22 fights and 4yrs as a pro.

Yeah I don't think Froch's done too bad so far, but what he does from now on maybe crucial. If you look at Calzaghe or Benn they were winning British titles around their 15th fights and Foch holds the British and Commonwealth belts.josh fg wrote:Maneging to cleverly forgett that Froch spent a little time getting a damn impressive ametre carrer including a medle at the world ameter championships of 2001. Jeff Lacy had, had about the same number of fights as Foch after his first 2 and 1/2 years as a pro. Though I suppose Lacy won the IBF belt in his 17th fight and I can't really see Froch winning a legit title in three fights time. But all in all I think Froch is doing ok as long as he steps up his opposition and doesn't let his mouth get out of control.

Never really been a fan of hands-down fighters, the only one I really like the look of right now is (former) super-bantam Joan Guzman - a fighter who chooses to box exquisitely = the unholy combination.

Have you seen him fight already Tantum?Tantum wrote:Yeah, Froch is gonna be on HBO Latino tomorrow... Looking foward to it, actually.
It would be great to hear the US viewers impression of him, both as a boxer and as a person who has a lot to say for himself.
A post fight opinion would be much appreciated :)

personally i think froch is a good but not exceptional fighter. Remember he only narrowly beat charles adamu who was widely beaten by the average vitali tyspko. I like watching froch because he takes risks and has an appealing style but he definitely lacks in defense and although It would be nice to see him bash up calzone I have a feeling the first genuine decent puncher carl meets will spark him with a right hander. His feet are two slow for him to be keeping his left hand so low- roy jones could get away with it but he sure aint no roy. I seem to remember TONY DODSON having a pretty good right hand.....
Froch has waighed in 1lb light for the fight.

Anyone know where there are picturs of the weigh in?

Probably nowhere. America doesn't know/care about this one, I don't even see how Froch can top the bill. Oscar will of course get a bigger reception than Froch.
It seems strange, but there is better reason for Porras to be the draw, considering the fight is on HBO Latino.. Oscar promotes Froch but noone knows who he is. Weird.

We have discussed it before about having a long amateur career, and even an Olympic gold is no longer a guarantee in the pro ranks so his good results in the 2001 world amateurs don`t really mean anything now, Davis Haye also did well and whilst not knocking Haye I think its safe to say on the world stage he is an accident waiting to happen, I do like David Haye and I think he is one of our most exciting fighters but he is not going to fullfill all he promised in the amateurs.josh fg wrote:Maneging to cleverly forgett that Froch spent a little time getting a damn impressive ametre carrer including a medle at the world ameter championships of 2001. I stand by what I said Froch needs to get a move on.
Does that make them Lesbians?Shirow wrote:That's going to keep me chuckling for quite some time...knockout wrote: he and Ottke can ride off into the sunset together on white horses..... two undefeated champions with not a testical between them
I liked Froch's line "If he's worried about losing his title he can keep it". Ouch!!

Froch pulls a lot of expressions, carries his hands low and trys do a very poor impression of Tommy Hearns, RJJ & the crew.Tantum wrote:How good is Froch in most of your eyes?
But he doesnt have any of their looseness or fluidity, natural ability, or anything. He looks very stiif & wooden, very awkward and i cant see him going very far.
I like his attitude going for the big shots though & embarrassing ole JC though. What hes saying is very true but i doubt he can back up his words. The super middles is a dull division but the guys on top are not push overs.
