What a waste.

What a waste? - What a loser more like.
Some gyms are rife with cretins peddling weed and coke. Even some trainers.
It makes me laugh when i sometimes read "our gym takes these kids off the streets and learns them discipline" when in reality there is sometimes more sh*t going off inside than outside.
The lion's share of gyms are decent. Especially the ABA gyms. But a lot aren't.

Its a shame, hope he learns from this mistake.
We all make mistakes in life, he's only a baby and has great talent. Lets hope those who care for him are looking out for him in there and giving him good advice.
I've never been to prison, but I imagine it to be a great place to re-set your life goals and realise the things you take for granted are so precious.
Gomez calling him a loser is not really on, you telling me you've never done something your ashamed of, or illegal?
I'm sure he'll be back. Lets hope he keeps the training up and he can use this experience to warn others of the pitfalls of that kind of lifestyle.

Im sure if he sold coke to your son Jeff you would be calling him much stronger things than a loser.

Perhaps mate, but people make mistakes. Jack is not what you would call a chav, proper quiet lad- keeps himself to himself. Not one of these wide boys- thats why the whole thing is so suprising.rob h wrote:Im sure if he sold coke to your son Jeff you would be calling him much stronger things than a loser.
Re: Jack Arnfield jailed
well all i have to say is i hope he gets his just deserves the dick ........ selling drugs he was proberly taking them aswell ?????MachoMan09 wrote:The people he was selling to were his own age and a little older. It was in relatively small quantities and if you were to put a label on it, you might call it social dealing; i.e. he was sorting his mates out. I'm not condoning it, far from it, I think he's ballsed up big style but by all accounts it was more down to naievety than the demonstration of a crimelord in the making. He wasn't particularly subtle about it and was always going to get fingered fairly quickly.rob h wrote:Im sure if he sold coke to your son Jeff you would be calling him much stronger things than a loser.

C'mon Jeff, you don't get 18 months of porridge for stealing a gnome from an old lady's garden on trick or treat night.Jeff Thomas wrote:Its a shame, hope he learns from this mistake.

Even if you took said gnome, threw it through her window and it knocked her from her zimmer frame.
I'm all for a happy ending on this story, but right now, my label is suitable.

If he is in prison for 18 months there are good chance are he might be out in 10-12 months or so if he keeps nose clean in prison, but he is young enough to learn from this mistake and to rebuild his life and career.

J,
When you've had a member of your family hooked on hard drugs, seen their life cave in and lose everything including their liberty, then you might have a different spin on things.

Re: Jack Arnfield jailed
For someone who has known Jack personally for many years, I find it very uncharacteristic of him and think they have slapped a stint inside on him because he is a professional boxer.
I know people who have dealt in much more and been giving much less punishment, some swerving jail and just doing community service. He may only do 9 months if hes a good lad.
I hope he copes with it well and am certain he will still have a successful boxing career once hes learnt his stern lesson.

ive lost two dear friends to skag.
doesnt make me feel that everyone who has been near drugs is a scumbag and should be shot tho.
then again i was one of the original 89 on rave generation so am amaybe more liberal approach to such matters.
Re: Jack Arnfield jailed
If people didn't want to take drugs, there would be no need for people to sell them.
Arnfield has been a bit daft, because he's put a big obstacle in his boxing career. I find it very hard to demonise him though, as I doubt he had to bully people into buying the gear he had.

He needed cash, and used his status as a boxer to make money. Many boxers grow up on tough manors where this is a way of life. I bet most of us here know the score.

To be honest MachoMan Stalmine is not much of anything.

Stalmine is about 3 houses, one of which is jacks. A load of fields and a couple of sheep. Funny the images these stories put in peoples minds.MachoMan09 wrote:Stalmine, where Jack is from, is not a tough manor. Re: Jack Arnfield jailed
Jack was always a polite and well spoken lad whenever I spoke to him. I don't know, maybe he went off the rails last year but it's certainly a suprise. One thing I can say is that it has nothing to do with the gym he was in. Bobby Rimmer was like a second father to Jack and Brian Rose and encouraged them to focus on nothing but boxing. If Jack went off the rails under that kind of stewardship, he would have done so anywhere.
Re: Jack Arnfield jailed
Maybe never lived on a rough estate, but I doubt he spent his time in the village when Blackpool was down the road, and that is rough as fook.

Young lads can make a bit of extra cash by flogging gear to their mates and their mates' mates. They don't make much as their customer base is small compared to larger towns and cities. It's really very simple. Jack (will almost certainly) have just nipped up the road to Grange Park, Blackpool and bought relatively small quantities to sell on - probably from somebody who was at the same school as him a few years back. This is just an example of a naive kid making a bad choice.carlbcfc wrote:Maybe never lived on a rough estate, but I doubt he spent his time in the village when Blackpool was down the road, and that is rough as fook.
I have seen enough of drugs, and how they are distributed in my time to realize this is the path to bigger things. Nice lad from my manor started to knock a bit of weed out at school, left school, big boys started to notice and want in, he gets threats, buys a gun, spends 6 years inside. As I said, very nice lad too, not your typical bully boy dealer. I have many more examples.
You can't try and polish a turd mate just because he's a boxer. He was no plastic gangster maybe, but the conviction stands as a drug dealer, few mates, or hundreds. Do you know something we don't know about the case? Not the end of his career though, just a lesson in life.
On a sadder note, fcuking dirty pedofiles get less time. Bastards!
