Froch v Abraham fight odds

Post by ALI »

Anyone surprised by the odds being offered for this fight? I personally fancy Abraham strongly, and from what i can gather from these forums, most users here also favour Abraham. However, the bookies see it as a much closer affair, they have made Abraham favourite, but only by the smallest of margins.

Fight odds can be viewed here: http://www.oddschecker.com/other-sports ... och/winner

StanJmaes actually have them even stevens at 10/11 on. I can only imagine that the bookies think Froch has a good chance of winning rounds against Abraham. Abraham can be lazy, thats true, but i personally think Froch will struggle badly against his tight, high gaurd. On the flip side, i think Abraham will land his shots without to much trouble and would not be surprised if he stops Froch at any point in this fight.

I'll be rooting for Froch, but i would not bet him with your money!

I would NOT place a bet full stop on this fight.

Going to be like two trains colliding.

But if i really was a betting man, I would go for Froch TKO 9-12.

Abraham has been saying in every interview about he started much too slowly against Dirrell, his team have begged him to fight from the first bell instead of having it all to do at the end. And yet he just looked so knackered against Dirrell at the end, that he could come undone by Froch late on if he over exerts himself.

Unless he bangs Froch out early and that's not really much of a gameplan, trying to knock a tough boot like Froch out. Although Abraham has the power.

depends if froch resorts to throwing single punches again. he doesn't gas or fade late, which is where AA usually comes on.

AA was marked up against dirrell but that was more to sharp, accurate punches than clubbing punches.

AA will give away first 4-5 rounds, he can't help himself.

I think it'll go late and probably down to the wire if AA doesn't catch him with something big around rd 8-9.

If AA didn't give up so many rds I would pick him on pts but he's always working a deficit, it's whether he can win some rds big over the last 2/3rds. I think he can but the decision may be controversial & contentious.

I think it almost is a pick em fight, a draw could be a decent bet. I make AA favorite, evenly matched, but a better defence.

Should be a cracker. Hopefully Froch will smoke his boots.

I have a feeling one of them could get badly hurt in this fight, possibly a career finisher.

....either way it'll be a good fight.

I see both guys sticking to the right plan early. But by halfway things will get hot.

Can't wait....

Cracking fight. AA can be outworked and Froch is rock solid, so I might have a sentimental bet on a Froch UD, but this isn't really a fight to be betting on

I seem to be in a real minority here as I think Abraham is made for Carl. Froch outpoints him for me.

Froch sounds like he's really on it for this one.

Spoke to him and he's raring to go.

5/2 for Froch to be KO. I like those odds.

I expect Abraham by TKO/KO and will bet accordingly

Since he has steppe dinto 'world class' Froch has been visibly hurt from everyone he has fought, and the only noted puncher out of the bunch is Kessler, and he is not exactly a 1 shot killer

AA finds his chin in the 2nd half of the fight and ends it in a spectacular fashion. We will then hear that Froch had an injury to (insert body part) and thats why he lost

Froch says he is going to try to break Abraham's ribs. I think going to Abraham's body is in Froch's best interests. Abraham is very hard to hit in the head because of his high guard, and in past bouts body punches seem to have bothered him (on multiple occasions he has complained to the referee that the punches were low when they were not). A strong body attack might also take some of the steam out of Abraham, and thus his late round onslaught will not be quite as damaging.

Having said that, I think Abraham will win.

How many fighters step into multiple world class fights and do not get hurt? That's a silly point imo. Froch has had 4 world class fights in a row - Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell and Kessler, two of them in the backyards of others, and yet he's only been down once. At which point he got back up and won the fight on a late stoppage. If he wasn't visibly hurt in those fights he would have to be one of the best defensive boxers of the modern era, and you don't need to be at that level to compete for 12 rounds with Abraham. Although none of them are concussive punchers, they all have their share of KO's.

He is defensively open at times, but not as vulnerable as implied and lands a lot of his own in return. I can only see a stoppage for Abraham if he's ahead on points and Froch goes for broke in the late rounds.

Really looking forward to this one. I think Carl can win the fight but only if he is active early on against Abraham. He just cannot afford to leave it to the later rounds as he did with Kessler. He needs to get rounds in the bank in the first half of the fight and take advantage of Abraham's slow starts.

I think Rob McCracken was spot on after the Kessler fight when he said that Froch simply needs to be busier in fights and not just rely on his ability to knock people out late on. I see this being an absolute war with one of two possible outcomes: Froch by UD or Abraham by late tko.

Abraham by brutal and actually rather uncomfortable to watch KO.

Froch far too open, his chin is far too easy to reach, and Abraham hits like a ton of bricks. Froch will be frustrated by Abraham's pick-a-boo style, and then knocked out comprehensively.
