To be honest mate the only reason why I would want to see Woodhouse v Gavin or Woodhouse v Smedley is to prove a couple of thick ****s on here wrong!!! and lets face it to prove some posters wrong on boxrec is the wrong reason.

I will be very honest - I seriously rate Gavin and think he is going places - Smedley v Woodhouse would be a slightly closer fight than Gavin would solely because I believe Nick Smedley has a lot to prove with regards his discipline rather than his boxing ability - dont get me wrong I think if Nicky has got his mind on boxing in a consistent manner then he will be a very special boxer but lets face it its that self discipline which is a massive hurdle.

I hope Dennis gets some tough fights for Nicky not just knock over jobs - I want to see the kid fulfil his potential because he has it in abundance and thus Curtis Woodhouse fight would be the start of him proving what he has got.

Many fighters dont fight top rated fighters in their first couple of fights do they? so long as i beat what is put in front of me thats all that should matter. Then the opposition will get fearcer as time goes by...

As for not going anywhere in life, i have a good education behind me, i have travelled the world and i have good family and friends behind me so my lifes fine at the moment.

Going off at a tangent, this for me typifies a lot of what's wrong with boxing today. Steelcity, I understand why you might take that approach as a coach, but as a paying member of the public I'd feel completely ripped off knowing that a fighter is treating a bout as little more than a glorified spar.
I and many others have no interest in paying money to watch one fighter 'playing' with another and deliberately not trying for a KO - I want to see competitive, well-matched fights and where both fighters are doing their best to win.

I agree deserter but when a kid turns over he had to learn the pro side and if a good amateur turned pro gets in with a journey man his class should come through, If there were no journey men how would the youngens learn ?

Yep, I completely understand it from your side. I guess i can only look at something like UFC/MMA, where fighters are in most cases matched competitively from day one and can still have a successful career even if they have a couple of losses on their records as a result. I think one of the biggest problems in modern-day boxing is the emphaisis on protecting a fighter's '0' - you only have to look to see those fighters who have actually benefitted massively from losses relatively early in their career... Benn is a perfect example of that.

well u wouldn't put a young kid in with a top fighter. They need to learn ,saying that we put 19 year old liam cameron in with dee mitchell who is a good fighter nbeat conception and as a winning record, not many would do that after only 5 fights and still a teenager, but he did wee and won well

He's just making excuses because his lad has only stopped 3 out of 12 journeymen.

Well ian this topic as had loads of posts, I hope I've helped lol I know I done my bit , just need a few more but I have to say to southpaw, frankie is totaly different class to curtis not disrespecting its a fact and curtis woodhouse as the perfect style for frankie to exploit, his skill and vast experience is too much by far,but I think because he pulled out through injury the chance as gone, woodhouse as got plenty of balls and likes to fight, but if mark willey is workin on his fitness he deserves some credit ,if not most of it,I know he's doin a good job with ibbo what I saw yesterday, Any way gettin bored wiv this topic all I know is pro and AM can work together now ,a good move from the ABA but a crafty one in a way as they want a lot more money off u to register . Any way as ibbo wud say hasta luago

lol at Gavin being afraid of Woodhouse. No disrepect to Woodhouse, but Gavin doesn't have a lot to fear.

I do and always will find it hard to believe that any boxer will purposely not go for the KO.

Learning fights or not learning fights its in the instincts.

You don't get paid over time... you do the learning in sparring.
