Macklin v Barker.....who wins?

Post by soulboy »

My thoughts for this long overdue fight is that Macklin will k.o Barker within 5 rounds. Personally i dont think Barker has fought anyone of note yet and certainly no-one who can scrap like Macklin. He likes a war as Barker is a pretty boy in my eyes and dont like getting hurt.

From reports it sounds like Macklin is enjoying top-notch sparring in the States and he fights at home next month, of course, which is always a big advantage. I agree with soulboy in going for Macklin, who is more defined than Barker, more battle-hardened. Nevertheless, this is some match.

bennie- i seem to recall in another top 50/50 match a year or so back, between Lindsay and Appleby, home advantage was the clincher in your picking Lindsay (i think i recall this haha): i think home advantage may be the most important factor here, too.

Barker KO3.

The crafty cockney will have too much for Macklin to handle.

Barker is far too skillful for Macklin though I'm still unconvinced about Barkers punch resistance.

PS. If that fella who lives up Barkers arse sees that comment and have an issue with it - go fornicate yourself(no doubt you'd probably try).

pissing on our parade, bigh?

if this fight doesn't happen, these 2 might get left behind.

a winner might be on the radar of martinez, williams, pirog, golovkin, the ever popular sylvester and the elusive sturm. but if they don't even fight, who's going to notice them? why should any of the top boys fight them? the winner could force a title shot, make some headlines. hopefully it happens.

Macklin looked strong in sparring earlier this week... so my money is on him, I think he got more than Barker can handle. I see it being a good scrap none the less

I think it will be a good fight. I am leaning towards Macklin, but I see it as a fight that could realistically go either way. Both men are very capable operators, and no matter what the outcome is, I am expecting a competative contest.

golovkin won the WBA "regular" title last night, in panama or mexico, via 1st round KO.

yeah we heard ya Lirva, now unless you are willing to add anything more substantive to the "heard rumours, wont happen" then I think you've nothing left to add to this discussion. Much love and goodnight!

No he won the interim title against a guy who was previously knocked in one round by a bum. But hey since its golovkin beating bums and bums only , fair play and isnt he just fantastic....

regardless, golovkin has his foot in the door and sturm will be on the way out. golovkin will be a better WBA champion.

back when i was reading about golovkin/WBA title etc, it did say he was fighting for the proper title (at least, regular). things have obviously changed. sometimes it's hard to keep up.

next up seems to be n'jikam, a great fight that will produce a legit contender for sturm.

hopefully golovkin truly does break away from universum.

With you on all counts. Crucially, it could well be one of those fighters that whatever the outcome, the reputations of both fighters emerge enhanced.

That will be a good one and I didn't know it was happening. Geale is a pretty exciting fighter and Karmazin is extremely experienced and showed in his last bout that he is still capable of fighting at a high level.
