Re: ITV back in the boxing ring?
ITV chief has spoken of their need to develop PPV options for generating revenue.
Therefore - a £5.95 model for boxing of this ilk wouldn't surprise me.
Froch v Kessler II or Dirrell at £15.95.....would therefore follow?

Re: ITV back in the boxing ring?
yes your talking shit. read this article and had to laugh. its just pure speculation with no evidence to back it up. there will be no UK TV for this card.
also when you posted your previous article speculating on ITV's return on September 10th with John Murray, the bout had already been rescheduled and widley reported.
you gotta ask yourself, why would any tv company deal with Hennesey especially ITV?
They had a contract with him to show his fighters, but when Froch gets a fight in the US its not part of the deal? How comes the Dirrell fight was not part of the ITV contract?? Instead ITV get O'Donnell vs Tom Glover with Angel McEnzie on the undercard.

Re the Murray fight, the piece I did was straight after the BBBoC released a notice on it. Occasionally their info can trump other stuff.
Yeah, it's CLEARLY written as speculation, simple c*nt, not as 'fact'. This is why it has a question mark after the headline, asks 'who, if anyone' will broadcast it and offers a few things as to why they MIGHT get involved again.

Come on mate you knew full well saying ITV coming back was just a way of drawing attention to the article. Its fair enough but you asked if you were talking shit and I simply agreed.
If anything its far more likley Primetime would show it. No TV company will deal with Hennesey and I don't blame them.

Re: ITV back in the boxing ring?
Whilst it wouldn't be a surprise for ITV to experiment with ppv boxing further on down the line given what Adam Crozier said this week, I think it's a bit early to be in place for 10th Sept.
I would guess Primetime. If Showtime are doing the broadcast then there's not much they need to do, as they have done on the super six.

Re: ITV back in the boxing ring?
Wouldn't surprise me. They won't be paying a lot, but if Shobox are involved as well and throwing in a few quid, Hennessy might be able to make it pay.

Please dont let this forum become a breeding ground for media whores !
Re: ITV back in the boxing ring?
Hennessy's arrangement was to supply a mixture of britsh, european and commonwealth fights for ITV.
They got Witter vs Bradley live on saturday night. They had Macklin vs Elcock, Cleverly vs McIntosh, Murray vs McAllister, thaxton vs Melero / Mezzache, umpteen Tyson Fury fights, Darren Barker and so forth.
Their standard of fight cards was impressive. No eastern european bum fights - and all for meaningful belts.
Im not sure how anyone can say that it wasnt any good because it bloody was !
McGuigan, Rawlings, Mckenzie, Froch, Thaxton, Barker all at ringside - plus Gabriel lurking about back stage giving the viewer a bit of comic relief in between fights.
All for FREE.

On the other hand we ended up having Angel McKenzie and Phil Fury showcased to the nation live on a Saturday night

there were plenty of euro bums on his cards. I don't remember a card which had more than 1 compettive undercard fight. And lets not forget Angel McEnzie and Phil Fury.
ITV's coverage was great, but give the deal to Warren or Maloney not Hennesey to fornicate it up again.

Re: ITV back in the boxing ring?
No I would say there is something in it. Although, it appears to be a modified version of (business model-wise) from what another European promoter was originally proposing. Leaks, phone calls etc and look what pops up.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:http://news.boxrec.com/news/2010/itv-back-boxing-ring
Am I talking sh1t or what?
It will likely marketed as a USA v Fighting Irish Promotion for US TV.....The UK partner will either be ITV or Primetime I would think....?
Anyhow, good luck to Hennessey as I think he put on top shows on ITV4 and he has one of the best stables in the country - it is good news for boxing fans on this side of the pond.
Re: ITV back in the boxing ring?
Why did W*rren part company with Sky a few years ago? You seem to be the man in the know.robpalmer135 wrote:

Actually, don't answer that even if you do know the answer. I'll just have to take it down.

Maybe I should post a picture of myself in my profile surrounded by drunk blokes in an effort to convince other people on a boxing board that I am popular. Oh no I know what would work better! I will pile up thousands of posts on a boxing forum to prove that I have a life and then when someone takes the mickey out of the board I post on I will tell them I don't know who they are!
And now I am cool!

Hennesey has been promised a Showbox date for a while now but all his fighters turned it down. there will be no UK tv.gasman wrote:No I would say there is something in it. try to fit in a bit. we do things different round here. if you're in the know, add to the debate rather than trying to fvck ppl off, plug one promoter and slate the other.robpalmer135 wrote:Come on mate you knew full well saying ITV coming back was just a way of drawing attention to the article. Re: ITV back in the boxing ring?
hennessy put loads of good matchups on, though. he's one of the few promoters whose shows i can watch. he did well considering some of his fighters have been messed about and treated as though they have the plague. toward the end things may have been crap, and i've always been frustrated at how murray was handled.whiteboy wrote:G0mez wrote:Hennessy's arrangement was to supply a mixture of britsh, european and commonwealth fights for ITV.

You say I have 'no evidence' to support my article (when even a barely informed reader could clearly see it was a speculative piece anyway, not a factual assertion) yet you are apparently OK to unequivocally state 'there will be no UK TV' as if you are some kind of authority who doesn't need to justify or explain your statements.
