Hearn: Haye vs Audley well underway !
18.08.10
Promoter Barry Hearn has revealed that his son, Eddie, is currently in intense negotiations to make the David Haye vs Audley Harrison fight for the end of the year.
"We are in talks, I understand the talks are going reasonably well." Hearn told Sky Sports News. "In the heavyweight division, there is nothing else out there as far as British fight fans are concerned - a Harrison-Haye fight is enormous." he said.
Hearn believes his Olympic gold medallist fighter is the bigger draw in the UK and that Audley is now prepared to give us that great fight he has promised for so long.
"Audley Harrison, in my opinion, is a bigger draw. People don't know what to expect from Audley Harrison, he's been talking a great fight for years, never delivered it. He's at that last stage saloon - every fight fan in England wants to see this fight."Said Haye.
Only a few weeks ago, Booth was talking to members of Livefight.com in Las Vegas declaring that the fight was definitely not going to happen. That they would get torn to shreds for taking a fight with Audley.
But promoter Hearn is already talking in the current tense. He believes the fight will for sure.
"The fight's going to be amazing. I hope Eddie and Adam Booth get this fight together. Watch this space."
Southpaw Harrison weighs in at around 250+ pounds and stands at nearly 6'4. But has failed to put that formidable physique to test, due to his questionable spirit and heart.
If he can beat Haye it would erase years of professional ridicule, but has already fallen short against lesser skilled men such as Irishman Martin Rogan.
Whilst the event would be a big seller, true boxing fans would know the outcome pretty much before the first bell rang and the bookies, quite rightfully, would instill Haye as a huge favourite.

It'll be nice seeing Haye smash Audley up, but it'll have no relevance to Haye's legacy.
Re: Hearn: Haye vs Audley well underway !
I really hope this happens. The build up will be awesome and despite the fact that Haye will win easily it will be a great event with an explosive finish and fantastic atmosphere. I wonder where the likely venue will be? I heard that the date would be 13th November in which case they cannot use the O2 Arena as it is booked. Maybe the MEN although I would have really liked it in London.

Has Harrison been shrinking? He was originally listed as six and a half feet when he turned pro, and since then I've seen him as 6'6", 6'5" and, most recently for Sprott, 6'4". Now he's apparently not even that!G0mez wrote:Southpaw Harrison weighs in at around 250+ pounds and stands at nearly 6'4. If Audley won this then the post fight interview could be the most entertaining spectacle ever witnessed in a British boxing arena
Re: Hearn: Haye vs Audley well underway !
I know the money and publicity must be very tempting, but Haye should steer clear of fakes like Harrison. This isn't Lewis-Bruno....it's an exciting heavyweight with some good form behind him against a standing joke of a boxer.
Re: Hearn: Haye vs Audley well underway !
joke fight....haye is a clown

Dont know what the fight will prove. But i'll still end up watching.
So much for David Haye laughing off the Harrison fight.
Did he really want to fight the Klitchko's?

Re: Hearn: Haye vs Audley well underway !
I've heard Sky TV are still pushing for this fight like mad...
Re: Hearn: Haye vs Audley well underway !
will be a good event and should help cement haye as a force as a promoter.
but it is pathetic that the two fighters who could have given the klitschkos a good fight (haye and povetkin), have diplomatically gone in other directions, in a diplomatic weight class, that seems to pack no punch despite having some real potential.
because of this, with no one to test them, the K2s will be able to go on for so much longer. very, very sad.
they're all, haye, povetkin, and even the klitschko brothers, acting like europeans with belts (or in povetkin's case, close to a belt).

We've heard nothing on this from Haye apart from words to the effect of 'no way is this fight happening.'

What did booth say to livefight??
Re: Hearn: Haye vs Audley well underway !
Booth was saying that "no way it happens in a million years." that they were looking at another opponent.
This was at the airport back from Vegas.

But who the fkk are they looking at?
Like I've said before unless you stick Holyfield in. Outside the two Klitschkos there is no other opponent that would do the numbers Harrison would.

Chagaev I would expect. Get the mandatory out the way now and then look at a Klitschko for early next year.Autobarn wrote:adamek?

I'm still pathetically holding out hope of a Vitali fight being announced tho, Vitali did say the Briggs fight wasn't yet official at the Cardiff event and seemed to be intimating that negotiations could take place. I think Vitali is the one to go for first as well as he seems to be slowing down on the evidence of the Sosnowski fight.

Re: Hearn: Haye vs Audley well underway !
Gomez have you got a link to what the livefight guys were saying?
Re: Hearn: Haye vs Audley well underway !
The press conferences would be scintillating and the gate would be huge. The fight might well be a predictable blow-out or a dud, but then again it might just be spectacular. Which is why this fight is undoubtedly massive.
Re: Hearn: Haye vs Audley well underway !
i thought you meant haye v audley was signed.robpalmer135 wrote:http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/8924404.stm
