Adamek v Grant on Primetime

some of us might be frustrated that our own heavyweight, haye, is so inactive. adamek, who also came up from a stint as cruiserweight champ (and a memorable run as light heavyweight title holder), is continuing his heavyweight campaign and remaining very active (his 3rd fight this year, and there could be room for a 4th) after beating chris arreola. that was a breakthrough as he beat a favoured top 10 heavyweight, on HBO.

adamek is clearly getting some practise vs tall heavyweights: michael grant is obviously past it, and apparently will be astonishingly slow, but it will be some rounds vs a 6'7 heavyweight and will give an indication where to go next (it will also be a big sell to polish TV, as grant beat golota, and is comparable to adamek's fight with golota, which passed the torch to adamek as poland's biggest "name" fighter without being a true test).

primetime are showing it on saturday.

same here. if someone records this on DVD, i'd like to trade for a copy. always good to see this guy fight, whether it's a big fight, or a stay-busy showcase which grant clearly is.

hopefully an early stoppage so he can be out again soon in a big fight, hopefully an elim. dimitrenko in a WBA elim? tua in a WBO elim (problematic as they have same trainer, i think)?

Polish heavyweight sensation Tomasz Adamek continues his busy campaign when he tackles Pennsylvania giant Michael Grant in a 12-rounder this Saturday.
Adamek only moved up to heavy to tackle fellow Pole Andrew Golota last year, whom he stopped in five rounds, but liked it and the money, and has since seen off fringe contenders Jason Estrada and Chris Arreola. The 33-year-old must be closing in on a showdown with one of the Klitschko brothers.
Adamek has a 'driven' quality about him and we know from his wars at light-heavyweight and cruiserweight that he whacks with the right hand. Enter Grant, statistically impressive at 46-3 (34) but smashed by Lennox Lewis and Jameel McCline back in the day (and back-to-back), since when he has toured the casinos and the Indian reservations for his prey, although he did step up against Dominick Guinn and was stopped in seven. This constitutes another step up for 'chinny' Michael, who towers over most of his opponents and will certainly dwarf Adamek but is going nowhere at 38.
Nevertheless, I have a feeling Grant enjoys one or two moments on Saturday before Adamek lowers the boom.

estrada's definitely a fringe contender but arreola was (and probably still is) regarded as a top 10 heavyweight who regularly got exposure on big(ish) TV dates.
