I think that Harrison is the perfect opponent for Haye considering both the Klitchko's are fighting others.Harrison is tall and uses the jab a lot!

Its still no Frank Bruno vs Lennox Lewis match up though

I thought there was a good chance the more deserving and dangerous Chagaev would be Haye's next opponent, so I am a little disapointed by this news. Although Vitali is also going to be fighting an opponent who is not deserving of a title shot, he has stopped three world class heavyweights since 2008. I would have liked to see Haye defeat another world class fighter before taking a fight like this. I doubt Haye will fight a Klitschko next, so hopefully, if he does indeed fight Audley, his following opponent will be a top ten contender.

Of course any comparisons with Lewis-Bruno do flatter, but it's been forgotten that that too was seen as a formality, with most people picking a quick win for Lewis. Ultimately it was a good fight, but Bruno WAS a big underdog and, aside from the Joe Public element that made any Bruno fight big, there was a much bigger buzz about Eubank-Benn 2 which was following just a week later. That was seen as the "real" fight, while Lewis-Bruno was seen as more of an "event".

That's definitely true from my recollection as well. Nobody realised how much trouble Bruno's jab would give Lewis in the early stages of the fight.

The inside 6 is a certainty I'd say and it'd be worth a small punt on inside 3. I've said this before and I'll say it again, this fight will be a crbon copy of the Haye v Maccarinelli fight. Massive build up, great atmosphere and explosive ko for Haye. Audley only has a punchers chance, like Enzo did.

Has Harrison been shrinking? He was originally listed as six and a half feet when he turned pro, and since then I've seen him as 6'6", 6'5" and, most recently for Sprott, 6'4". Now he's apparently not even that!
His hair cuts have changed obviously by a good couple of inches

I dont personally want the fight to happen - i'd rather see british guys fighting non domestic opponents im a haye fan but i've got a soft spot for Big Aud. I wouldnt really be routing for anyone.

I have always thought he was at least 6'5. He is definitely over 6'4. Harrison also has the largest reach-height ratio I have ever come across.

I have always wondered how exactly fighters heights are determined; does somebody actually measure them?. Froch used to be listed at 6'0 and is now 6'1, Chad Dawson has always been listed at 6'1, but on the HBO broadcast of his most recent fight, he had grown an inch and was listed at 6'2. Abraham is listed at 5'10 here, but Showtime had him at 5'9. Marco Antonio Rubio also shrunk from 6'1 to 5'10.

it does seem that, where once they were one and the same, there is an ever bigger gulf between the best/real fights and the biggest events.

i always thougt audley was 6'6, by the way. that's definitely the statistic they used to use.

So not only is Haye fighting someone who has never faced a top 20 opponent he is making us wait till the end of the year for the pleasure. Think i have totally had enough of heavyweight boxing.

People always used to say he was 6ft 6 in commentaries, he was listed at 6ft5 and a half and when asked he would always say he was 6 foot 5. I know people shrink when they get older but I would be suprised if he has shrunk to 6foot 4 or less.

There is no way Audley deserves this..... after winning a pubfighter tournement and a guy with a spotty win-loss record (Sprott), but still I find it strangely intriguing!

Haye would start a heavy favourite of course, but i dread to think of Audley (who still has a punchers chance) gains a shock victory... we'd never hear the end of it from him!!

True, but Audley's kayo power is pretty average. He was nowhere near to getting Krence, Negus, Francis, Arias and Rogan out of there. The Sprott kayo and the second Williams fight flatter him.

You have to admire his optimism and self belief that he thinks he can win. But I just feel Haye is going to starch in the middle rounds as I think he is too fast and powerful for Harrison. As it is all British world title, do you reckon we are going to a British ref in the ring and three British judges ringside or will the WBA scuttle that idea?

I don't think his actual punch power is average, just that he hasn't often put himself in a position to deliver on his power because of his tentative style. When his back has been to the wall - Williams 2, Sprott 2 and even the first Williams fight when he hurt Danny after being put down - he has found his power.

As for the other examples, he was still a novice vs Krence and Negus, while Francis was always an exercise in getting the 12 rounds done. Arias and Rogan, though, were poor results, admittedly.

I do agree people's talk of Harrison's "puncher's chance" vs Haye are perhaps a bit optimistic, but the shot he finished Sprott with would have done for most human beings. You can't argue with the evidence of unconsciousness! (Of course, ditto for Sprott's own KO of Audley, and Sprott has a sub-50% KO ratio statistically)

This fight's only redeeming feature is seeing the prospect that Audley gets hurt, for me. Hagler is right, IMO. It's going to be a massacre. It does nothing for Haye's legacy. Audley is going to be so tentative that he'll probably get himself knocked out by shying away.

He wants this fight because he wants the money. Simples.
