is Darren Barker injured?
On a boxRec thread it was stated that the September Macklin v Barker is off; due to an injury to Barker.
Is this the case?
Cheers.

Thanks for clearing it up; really looking forward to it. hope both are in tip top condition
Re: is Darren Barker injured?
all the same he could be going into the fight with something wrong with him. like kessler when he came over and fought calzaghe.
Re: is Darren Barker injured?
It's a BIG risk if he's doing that, but Mick Hennesseys fighters don't have much choice these days (fcuk you ITV!!)Autobarn wrote:all the same he could be going into the fight with something wrong with him. like kessler when he came over and fought calzaghe.

Re: is Darren Barker injured?
Cant wait for this fight , Matty Macklin will knock him spark out.
Re: is Darren Barker injured?
IF there is something wrong with barker, any ideas what the problem is?
bunce said to livefight.com that barker apparently wants more time. weight woes, maybe? training with an injury that could hurt his chances of winning the fight?
certainly, barker will want to make the most of this opportunity and payday. and as such he and his team might deny anything is wrong, especially before the contest. a lot to gain from this fight. do we all believe he's going into the fight at the peak of his powers? or is it just a lot of shiit stirring?
regardless, should be an excellent fight.

If any of this crap is true which i highly doubt by the way, its to cushion the blow of losing to Macklin (if he does) and to have an excuse ready incase its a terrible early ko to try and save face.Autobarn wrote:IF there is something wrong with barker, any ideas what the problem is?

If Barker or his team thought his supposed injury was going to jeopardize him winning this contest then they would pull him out for sure. Barker will need to be a 100% to beat macklin and he and his team know that. Dont mind the excuses that will be ready for sure (by both sides) and the end of the contest the best man will win at the end of the day and thats it.
Re: is Darren Barker injured?
barker has denied and if there's something wrong, it's being kept quiet. if a fighter has something wrong, he won't want ppl to know about it beforehand (for instance froch and his rib injury going into the pascal fight) before it's something that the opponent can exploit.Barry big balz wrote:If any of this crap is true which i highly doubt by the way, its to cushion the blow of losing to Macklin (if he does) and to have an excuse ready incase its a terrible early ko to try and save face. absolute bullshit, barker has said there is nothing wrong with him!!! so how will that cushion the blow if he loses.Barry big balz wrote:If any of this crap is true which i highly doubt by the way, its to cushion the blow of losing to Macklin (if he does) and to have an excuse ready incase its a terrible early ko to try and save face.Autobarn wrote:IF there is something wrong with barker, any ideas what the problem is?

Read my post before you spout off. If EITHER fighter complains of injury as reason for the loss after the fight it is an excuse and thats all it is....HomeOfBritishBoxing wrote:absolute bullshit, barker has said there is nothing wrong with him!!! so how will that cushion the blow if he loses.Barry big balz wrote:If any of this crap is true which i highly doubt by the way, its to cushion the blow of losing to Macklin (if he does) and to have an excuse ready incase its a terrible early ko to try and save face.Autobarn wrote:IF there is something wrong with barker, any ideas what the problem is?
