Tomasz Adamek To small for heavyweight !!

Post by wiseman2007 »

Tomasz Adamek Is a great fighter  But I feel he is to small for HV. Imo he should Go back to cruiser weight and reign like before. Michael grant is a gone fighter, with a weak chin! But still Adamek just did not have the power to put him away. What's you thoughts ??

I think the heavyweight division is far more lucrative and i think a fight with david haye makes alot of sense.

Last night, Adamek was listed at 6'2.5 and weighed in at 217 pounds. That is not really too small for the division per se, as we see countless other top heavyweights around that size: Povetkin, Haye, Boystov, Chambers, Solis, Chagaev, Peter,Ruiz, Rahman, and Ibragimov. Even the last man to beat a Klitschko, Lamon Brewster, was around the same size as Adamek. However, it is clear Adamek has not carried his power up with him. At CW and LHW he was never a slick boxer, he was really more of a 'fighter'. When you don't have a lot of power and your defence is somewhat porous, you better have an iron chin or be exceptionally slick, a la Chris Bryd.

Adamek, like pretty much every other heavyweight in the world, will probably not beat either Klitschko, but he is a live opponent against every other boxer in the division. Since jumping to heavyweight, he is better known than ever before and is probably making the biggest money of his career. The CW division is very strong right now, and I do not think he would dominate it at this point, although he would likely be the top dog. Let's not forget that Cunningham pushed him to the limit. Huck is also boxing better than ever before, and then we have very tough guys like Lebedev, Ross, and Wlod.

Adamek has clearly added a lot of muscle, and it will negatively affect him to take it all off, not to mention he will likely make less money at CW fighting very tough opponents.

he's a bulked up, manufactured 217. that's not the same as a naturally thick set guy like ruiz. this weight slows him down and he has to use lots of movement and lots of punches.

adamek is too small for a klitschko, it's a simple fact of life that it'd be a size mismatch. class has nothing to do with it, just size. (manny pacquiao would not be able to compete with someone like paul williams or sergio martinez). adamek was special as a cruiserweight, but he has to pick his fights carefully as a heavyweight.

damn shame you have to fight in germany to make money in the cruiserweights.

adamek should go for haye. great fight and they used to be in the same division. makes sense. adamek wil have big trouble vs anyone super sized, but he can still beat the ones that are only a bit taller than him, such as top 10 ranked arreola, whom he outboxed on a major TV date.

i just don't like the direction his career is going in: nov fight with near 7' lance whitaker, a guy from grant's genaration albeit coming off a good win (and then challenge a klitschko). i'm glad adamek is making the money - from live gate and polish TV - for these fights, which he did not get as a class A cruiserweight champ. so in some ways these fights are more important than the hardcore fan winning championship fights. these are interesting novelty fights and the size difference makes them competitive.

adamek's very good but he has to peck and move through heavyweight fights and one shot from a guy twice his size and he might lose a round he was winning handily.

i'd love to see adamek v tua (sadly they have the same trainer, but they could square off in a WBO elim for wlad), sosnowski (all polish war, lots of punches from guys with no power - sounds like an all action 12 rounder), boytsov (how about that for a WBA elim - would be all action and they're about the same height), solis.
