Yes, he looked very good vs Woodhall - I thought he was going to be a special fighter then, for his lack of experience he looked very strong and had Woodhall in all sort of problems.Riddick Blowe wrote:The Thysse fight was possibly his worst performance. He's looked better than that, but his record still flatters him.
Anyone seen the Woodhall fight? Who can tell me about that one.
Richie got back into it and very nearly stopped Beyer in the last (again, that 12 round jinx).
Beyer has not been the same fighter since Cately KO'd him and I too am shocked at his success post that fight.
Pre Cately though, he was a tremendously strong, agressive fighter.
The Froch fight was interesting -- I was looking forward to seeing him since I"ve read about him but never seen him (I'm in the U.S.). He wasn't as impressive as I was expecting, but he looked pretty solid. I'll be interested to see where he goes from here though. Porras was a good test, albeit a guy who was a bit aged and past his prime. I'd like to see how he does against some other tests on this side such as Christian Cruz (a tough journeyman that comes to win and someone Froch was originally scheduled to face earlier on the same card as Witter-N'Dou); Enrique Ornelas (Librado Andrade's brother who hits hard but has been beaten when he's stepped up) or even Sam Reese (another good journeyman who is a gatekeeper at 168). In Europe, there would be other interesting guys like Lolenga Mock (who just beat Brewer and gave a tough fight to Veit); Brian Magee; or Matthew Barney (who I think his the British mandatory?). He needs to stay busy, though. I was hoping we'd get an interview with him, but unfortunately since HBO Latino was showing the Barrera-Fana replay, they didn't do interviews this time.
I think that is a good win esspecially as we are talking his 15th fight. We have to remember that this is a fight that if Froch wasn't top class he could well have lost.
To me his main aim now should be to keep active, he went 8 months between his last two fights and at this stage of his carreer that isn't acceptible. I hope he can sort out the Barny fight and if that happens it should do something for his EBU rankings.
Hopefully he can find a good ballence between fighting in Europe and america and if he gets 4 or so fights in befor the end of the year be in a compettitive position in terms of titles by the start of 2006.

I've never seen Froch fight, but if he's any good at cutting the ring off he could do a job on Beyer. I saw Beyer's last fight (the Green rematch) and Beyer looked there for the taking. Green just didn't seem to execute and do anything. If Froch could be effectively busy for 12 rounds and crowd Beyer I think he'd win, maybe inside the distance because I don't rate Beyer's chin.
Wouldn't mind seeing Mudine fight Froch as it happens. He's an interesting character....
