bout florida vs puerto rico aug 21,2010 controversy?????
well like most of you already know puerto rico team came with 15 fighters but none of them have USA books. so none of them have a amateur record. most of them had a record of no more than 11 bouts and 2 of them had less then 5 bouts!! that brings up my question of me as a trainer why would i bring a kid with no experience to the united states? i think they have a lot more experience than what they wrote on their bout sheets. Remember there is no way of us knowing how many bouts they really have also one of the kids from puerto rico wrote his name as henry Lopez!! i am a USA official and when i seen his birth certificate his name was henry caez maldonado. lol so whos to know if that kid is really henry Caez Maldonado? he wrote henry Lopez and there is was no Lopez in his birth certificate... well just in case you think I'm being hard on puerto rico team me myself is puerto rican.and i called it how i see it fair is fair no matter who we are. you all can see the bouts live on ldltv.com tonight at 6pm and let me know what you think when you see (team puerto rico) fight kids with no experience!!

We boxed against a Puerto Rican team in Philadelphia recently and they selection of opponents was very picky, but it more about weight than experience. That led me to believe they had plenty of experience even though their books didn't show it. They didn't really care how many bouts our boxers had, they seemed to want the slight weight and age advantage (within USAB rules).BEAST21 wrote:well like most of you already know puerto rico team came with 15 fighters but none of them have USA books. so none of them have a amateur record. most of them had a record of no more than 11 bouts and 2 of them had less then 5 bouts!! that brings up my question of me as a trainer why would i bring a kid with no experience to the united states? i think they have a lot more experience than what they wrote on their bout sheets. well i can say this i was not impressed with team puerto rico. so maybe they didnt lie about there bouts! and about the weight yes they did the same here they had an open class female bout that the girl from florida weight in at 121 but normally fights around 116. she fought a girl from puerto rico that normally fights at 132 and weight in at 129. well anyways in the mid way of the evening we took a break and team puerto rico got in the ring for a team picture and the ring collapsed. good thing no one got hurt but they had changed the venue and everyone went to a gym to finish the bouts. and those were the best bouts of the night to bad no one could see it. but you can go online and see the ring collapsed on ldltv.com let me know what you think!!

I read that on the site. Too bad, but glad no one was hurt. I watched some of the coverage that was archived and the production was very good. That's what amateur boxing needs. . .I really enjoyed the whole package. Very professionally done. I'll check out the vids from last night.BEAST21 wrote:well i can say this i was not impressed with team puerto rico. so maybe they didnt lie about there bouts! and about the weight yes they did the same here they had an open class female bout that the girl from florida weight in at 121 but normally fights around 116. she fought a girl from puerto rico that normally fights at 132 and weight in at 129. well anyways in the mid way of the evening we took a break and team puerto rico got in the ring for a team picture and the ring collapsed. good thing no one got hurt but they had changed the venue and everyone went to a gym to finish the bouts. and those were the best bouts of the night to bad no one could see it. but you can go online and see the ring collapsed on ldltv.com let me know what you think!!

First of all, any international teams have to come to the states via invitation of the LBC and with the approval of the LBC president. Second they MUST have an AIBA book. I have been told this was clearly not the case. This is bad for the sport of boxing when the rules were not followed. Correct me if I am wrong but the female bout was not the only bout where there was a weight difference, there were two other open bouts, and both had weight mis-matches, and one of the boxers had an issue after the bout. What is even more a shame is this show was put on by a person who wants to run as president of the Florida LBC, is that REALLY the kind of person you want running things down there?BEAST21 wrote:well i can say this i was not impressed with team puerto rico. so maybe they didnt lie about there bouts! and about the weight yes they did the same here they had an open class female bout that the girl from florida weight in at 121 but normally fights around 116. she fought a girl from puerto rico that normally fights at 132 and weight in at 129. well anyways in the mid way of the evening we took a break and team puerto rico got in the ring for a team picture and the ring collapsed. good thing no one got hurt but they had changed the venue and everyone went to a gym to finish the bouts. and those were the best bouts of the night to bad no one could see it. but you can go online and see the ring collapsed on ldltv.com let me know what you think!!

lol well your right but that person is only a level 1 i dont think he can run for such thing?? correct me if im wrong but you got to do the time before running for president. 2nd the weight was some issues of some bouts i left after i seen somethings that was done.then the ring collapsed and they moved the venue to one place to another and 2 boxers didnt show up. so they gave the one that showed up the win and i didnt think that was fair because no one know why they didnt show up to the place where they changed the venue. they could have gotten lost. and its sad to give them a lost without knowing why they didnt show up. i did a friend a favor to work the show but my son and i will not support that show anymore. if this the todd that i think it is why dont you run for president you have my vote and you know you got alot of good people that will vote for you??

According to the rule book, the Chief of Official should be held accountable for the behaviors of his/her officials within the LBC. The role of the COF is clearly to ensure the safety of the boxers and officials at all times; prime example, there should be not be over 20 people in the ring (collapse). This incident alone could have placed the FL Association in financial liability.
The COF is responsible for ensuring he/she has trained and experienced officials operating the weigh-ins. The role is of a leader; not one who sits back and does nothing but assignments if that. The role should be given to an individual who is fair and stern, follows the roles and is willing to protect the investments we have (boxers). Plenty of pages in the USA Boxing Rule Book state the first responsibility of an official is the safety of the boxers.
There are many questions to be asked who reviewed the passbooks (PR should have AIBA books)? The weigh-in sheets to make sure matches were properly matched and if one boxer was out-classed by another? Where scorecards right, this time, several weeks ago the same COF announced the winner from the wrong corner and had to over turn the announcement, not once, not twice but three times on the same night.
When can I vote? There are several people (unnamed) that have earned seats on the FL USA BOXING Board by demonstrating professionalize, integrity, fairness, trustworthy, and best of all look out for the safety of our children!

You don't have to attain a certain level to run. I agree with Swamp, you need to have integrity first, followed by honor, and fairness. The safety of our children is something that cannot be over-looked, and has to be at the top of the list of goals for our LBC. People in the Florida LBC don't realize how good we have it; the recent US Championships is a great example, our leaders sent our athletes out early, paid the air fare, and hotel, and rental car. There were VERY few LBC that paid, and none that paid to bring them out early. The Florida LBC is very well funded, and no it's not perfect, but our next leader should be able to keep it that way, and fundraise so we can continue to afford our athletes the best opportunities and more in the future. Mark, I may or may not run, you will be one of the first to know either way. I thank you for your confidence, I try to help as many kids as I can.BEAST21 wrote:lol well your right but that person is only a level 1 i dont think he can run for such thing?? correct me if im wrong but you got to do the time before running for president.
