Havnt seen many Latinos at heavy and if they are they're small. Probably a blown up cruiserweight
Re: Tyson Fury gets a Brazilian
He's actually not, he's a legitimate Heavyweight, but he is extremely crude and Fury shouldn't have much trouble with him.DazBoxingFan wrote:Havnt seen many Latinos at heavy and if they are they're small. Probably a blown up cruiserweight
Some of his fights are on Youtube and it really does show up his appalling opposition.

Cheshire heavyweight hope Tyson Fury ticks over in a 10-rounder against Brazil’s obscure if unbeaten Marcelo Luiz Nascimento at York Hall on September 10.
The hulking, loose-fleshed Fury proved his superiority over John McDermott in a Battle of the Bulge in June when he stopped him in nine rounds, having previously won a disputed 10-round decision over the blubbery McDermott. It moved Fury to 11-0 (9) as a pro and at 22, and 6ft 7ins, he is one of those Great White Hopes, if you can say such a thing today.
Frankly, Fury turned pro too young because heavyweights do not mature until their late 20s. Larry Holmes, who made 20 defences of the world heavyweight title, was 29 when he snatched the title from Ken Norton with a sensational 15th round, and it was tears all round at the verdict (Holmes, Norton and even Norton’s sparring partner, Eddie "Bossman" Jones). Ah, those were the days in the 1970s, when the best heavyweights could fight and weighed 215 pounds. Even by today’s standards, Fury is way too heavy at 270 pounds and you wince at the thought of his poundage once he fills out.
Nevertheless, Fury had been knocking them over like skittles prior to his controversial win over McDermott last year, which had Frank Maloney threatening to set Jimmy Flint on the referee, but the 10 rounds brought him on and their subsequent nine rounds will also have done Fury the world of good.
To Luiz Nascimento, who brings over a 'TV' record of 11-0 (9) and a nickname of "The Hammer" but has yet to beat anyone meaningful, and everyone in the world knows that Brazilian men play football and have hot wives and girlfriends and do not fight. As far as my memory works, Miguel De Oliveira remains their only ever world champion, and he was pretty poor.
Fury deserves a soft touch after the McDermott decider and we can expect him to box a bit, punch a bit and force a stoppage as soon as he really gets serious.

What about Acelino Freitas Bennie? Lost his mojo pretty early on, but held the WBA and WBO titles at the same time at Super Feather.bennie wrote: Miguel De Oliveira remains their only ever world champion

Box would have been a more accurate term there.

with brazilian heavyweights...the more hair on their backs and tatoos they have....the crapper they are.
Re: Tyson Fury gets a Brazilian
It looks like Manchester’s massive Tyson Fury now fights tough American Jason Gavern over eight rounds at York Hall on September 10.
Heavyweight Fury, who stands 6ft 7ins and weighs over 250 pounds, was said to be fighting an obscure Brazilian on the night but in comes the more proven Gavern, who held the world class Jonathon Banks to a 12-round draw in his last outing in May, which really is a terrific result for the unheralded Florida man, although it was a mauling, foul-filled fight descibed by referee Juergen Langos as "the dirtiest I’ve ever officiated." Before that, Gavern punched out an upset 10-round decision over California’s Manuel Quezada in California.
The 33-year-old Gavern brings over an ordinary 19-7-4 (8) tab but has been in deep and only Russia’s heavy handed Denis Boystov has ever stopped him: in seven rounds last year in Germany. Gavern, a smallish heavy, knows all about unbeaten prospects like Fury and is well-travelled. Despite his physical disadvantages, he is likely to take young Tyson the full eight rounds.

Re: Tyson Fury gets a Brazilian
Gavern is a much better opponent than the Brazilian. Fury should get some rounds in against a tricky veteran.
Re: Tyson Fury gets a Brazilian
Definitely. Infinitely better. Gavern managed a draw against Johnathon Banks recently, and beat prospect Manuel Quezada before that, so if Fury wins a shut-out or by knock-out it'll be very impressive. This has turned out to be a really interesting fight now. Nice one Hennessy!crusader wrote:Gavern is a much better opponent than the Brazilian. Gavern is a very good opponent. If Fury beats him I would rank him ahead of Audley and Rogan.
Re: Tyson Fury gets a Brazilian
How come it has now been cut to 8?

Re: Tyson Fury gets a Brazilian
It does not matter who it is, all it is just Mick Hennessy keeping Fury active because Derek Chisora has got that unifaction match with Sam Sexton for the British and Commonwealth belts, so Hennessy is just making sure Fury was very little ring rust on him before going in with the winner of Sexton-Chisora. He will get a few rounds against Gavern but I do feel that he might get a late stoppage or a clear points win as Gavern has not been in with someone as big and heavyhanded as Fury.
