Re: David Tua V Evander Hollyfield
10 Years ago id say AWESOME fight, now............well Holy should be retired and David has looked good in his comeback up in till the Barrett fight which was a poor showing and being dropped for the first time! David SHOULD win purely on being the younger guy you'd assume he has more gas left in the tank, but Holy is a warrior and is always super fit, and thats my concern daivd cant afford to be underdone at all going into this!
Re: David Tua V Evander Hollyfield
David Tua was a poor mans Tyson, If this happened 10 years a go Holyfield by KO10.
Holyfield has a death wish, or just clearly doesn't want any brains left, i really feel for his family at 47/48 he's in fantastic shape physically but i can't do things the same way i could when i was 21 and that was 10 years a go, i wonder how this bloke feels with 20 years beyond his best and how many brutal wars.
Great to see Tua not pack it in, and head for Somoa, he's still got something to offer.

I bet you Aussies wish you had a poor mans tyson! Infact who is/was the greatest australian heavyweight??? No-one! Not one aussie heavyweight in history could lick Tuas boots!
Re: David Tua V Evander Hollyfield
holyfield then bugner
Re: David Tua V Evander Hollyfield
Peter Jackson, read more Kiwi! no need to bring nationalitys into mate, but since you had a dig, name 1 other fighter from NZ that could actually say he was world class(this has already been done but it's fun to rehash ;;-) ).yid14 wrote:I bet you Aussies wish you had a poor mans tyson! Maselino Masoe was a World Champion (WBA) stopped Evans Ashira!
Anyway this fight is only in "negotiation" some internal reports suggest it wont be happening

Reminds me of the joke "What do Kiwis and sperm have in common?
Millions come out but only one or two work."

Tua V Holyfield .... if it happens as planned, will be a box office draw card.... will out sell and create enough interest in main stream, way more than any "Aussie" heavy weight or any weight could create...since the KIWI thing was brought in to question.

I think Evander should call it a day, he is best part of 48, all he will do is disgrace himself and boxing...

Are you for real???? How did Botha vs Holyfield go??? How did Holyfield Vs Big foot go??? 2 figfhters that are well beyond there best will do nothing outside of NZ, it would be lucky to get on TV in the US....So you think that Tua vs Holyfield would outsell Green vs Mundine, you think that Tua vs Holyfield would fill a football stadium.....don't get all nationalistic without thinking, and it was Yid who decided to bring the Aussie thing into it....and trust me people are not buying the circus acts in there droves like they once did, they'd both be lucky to get paid $500000.
Here's your best insight into how many people around the world couldn't give 2 shits about the fight......Go to the current scene and see if you can find a thread on it...As soon as the casual fan hears Holyfields age....see ya!
Farken whats with you Kiwis??? you throw the first stone, then come back talking absolute shitt....all the best can't wait to see this get the most media attention in this part of the world in the history of boxing, and I'm glad Tua will finally get that big pay day that Mundine got all those years a go( reportably close to 7 million, and fought in front of 40000 people, and sold the most PPV's per capita in the history of Boxing) i just can't see that much attention about 2 blokes who can't do it they way they once did.
And that fight of the century card where they got payed $500000 each Tua/Cameron, Mundine got paid that for his debut fight.....an absolute wanker is Mundine but no one in this part of the world has earn't the money and the attention he's got.
Re: David Tua V Evander Hollyfield
Hounddawg you got to read carefully first before barking out shite..... "Tua V Holyfield .... if it happens as planned, will be a box office draw card.... will out sell and create enough interest in main stream, way more than any "Aussie" heavy weight or any weight could create...since the KIWI thing was brought in to question."
Tua V Holy will create far more interest and pull main stream as opposed any Aussie heavy weight V Holy specifically. I guess the best marker for this would be the numbers and ratings. The term "any weight" was indeed incorrect. There isn't a Aussie heavy weight which will make it worth Holy's while and yeah sure it's a way past the used date sort of fight but there will be enough interest in it. Given that this could very well be Holy's swan song, if the fight happens-- and in the USA. Tua has a shoulder injury and it is only speculation at this stage in any event.
True that Mundine has done and got what he has, attention and $$$ wise....but after a string of sucker fights for punters gate money where he's been fighting bums, doubtful he'll ever make that sort of money or ratings anytime soon.

Re: David Tua V Evander Hollyfield
Hey Hounddawg how you doin? 8)
Guys I think we should chill out with the NZ and AUS thing 'cos its got nothing to do with this possible match up. I think it'll be huge if it happens and so would Green/Mundine part 2, despite all this talk we and so many others definately would take interest in both fights. I feel Holyfield should've retired ages ago but passion doesnt age I guess.
Like I said before Australia has a lot of great lightweights and some good trainers but their big men aint very good. Ben Edwards I'd like to see more of other then that Ive seen the rest and I dont think any of them would beat former Australasian champion Shane Cameron IMHO. Shane has beaten 3 Australian heavyweight champs in questionable Hopoate and experienced war horse Bob Mirovic and Colin Wilson.

Re: David Tua V Evander Hollyfield
At an overweight 260 lbs and having lost his last fight Williams looks more like an Evander opponent than Tua.
Why would David want a WBF title anyway? He is better than that.

Yeah I know what you mean. Apparently the winner gets an instant shot at Wlad's title. Reiterating that this fight is not confirmed however thats the real prize here, a title shot for the winner.Brute wrote:At an overweight 260 lbs and having lost his last fight Williams looks more like an Evander opponent than Tua.

Re: David Tua V Evander Hollyfield
No doubt David would have proclaimed "awesome" for an easy money day with old man Evander, just like his appearance on the Wheel of Fortune:

Re: David Tua V Evander Hollyfield
For what it's worth, no one in this part of the world including Tua couldn't win a round against Wlad/Vatali.....now they're the champions, not Haye nor anyone else. For a weak(white) division as people say, these boys are unstoppable and are severely underrated.
Foxdog hi how are you ;;-) lighter divisions?????? Cruiserweight is considered a heavy division,Lt Heavy is also considered to be the bigger boys, and we have had our fair share of champions there......How about NZ??????? Also of note our "Heavys are no good" how come Kali who like Tua has adopted a country that they weren't born in had a title eliminator recently....Leapai destroyed better fighters than anyone Cameron has been in the ring with in Walker and Beck...but still no Kudos from you boys across the Tasman....Mirovic,Hopoate and Wilson are not our best fighters and because you own the Australian title doesn't mean your the best......do you guys ever read other peoples posts..ie Brute and many others have said as recent as the other day they would like to see the Australian champ, being returned to the status as being the best from here....not the next available person in line.....like Hoppa,Mirovic and Wilson, who were never the number 1 ranked fighter here while holding the belt. It would be like beating Oscar Taliermeira while holding the NZ championship and us saying well he was your best so we're better
Since you seem to create such good Heavys how many of them have won a Title????
I really can't understand why so many start this topic, theres no competition we have had champions from Flyweight to cruiserweight several times over and the only person i can ever think of that won a world title from outside of Australian shores in this region, is Masoe who won a vacant version of WBA regular then lost it in his next fight......so why start a topic like this?????
By the way I like Tua and have followed him since the olympics, but he ain't the best never has been and certainly ain't the same fighter he was 8 years a go...just my 2 cents.
