Chad Bennett fights for IBO L/W title.

Post by Hounddawg »

Chad Bennett looks set to do battle with Cesar Rene Cuenca 38(1)-0 in a IBO title on a wednesday in september.

Interesting enough it isn't registered on Boxrec as a PPV but i'm assuming being a wednesday it will be, Chad who has a following in Newcastle isn't really that well known in Aus boxing's public eye will have his work cut out in the ring and his promotional team have there work cut out to ensure people buy the card.

I for 1 don't mind paying 20 bucks for cards that involve upcoming prospects vs other up comming prospects that feature through out the card.

In the last year and a half, Grange have put on 2 reasonably priced cards that featured our young talent(Geale,Zappa,Medley and so on) testing themselves, Bennetts team would do well if they can get some decent prospects to matchup against each other and should aid in selling the card to Australian audiences.

Can Bennett beat the feather fisted argie and claim his first albeit argued version of a world title.....I hope so.

Two fights ago he looked very average, I'd like to know how he looked in his last outing in America. He seems to be very hot and cold from what I've seen.

I obviosly don't know the Argie but his record isn't the most padded I've seen...

Very hot and cold, i'm assuming he knows people who know people and has been rushed through the ranks to get this shot, age not being on his side i hope he wins and defends against some of the Aus boys, the guy in with Wills last year didn't look fit, probably because he fought 12 days prior against a very decent fighter..I dont know, maybe Wills(very hot and Cold as well) punches hard.

Maybe this opens the doors for fighters like Wills,Rabah,Egberime,Gostellow and Ganoy who bar Ganoy are very inactive fighters, to challenge the winner and get there name out there again.

Not too often you see a record like 38-0 (1)

I seen this argie before, and was amazed at his lack of stoppage wins. Especially for someone with that many wins! Which got me looking through the records of other guys and i kinda noticed and correct me if im wrong but alot of british fighters have a very low KO %. And the guys who have had alot of lossess dont often get stopped, the twogo hand in hand of course but is it just the British guys have great defence and good chins or is it that they are not tought to sit down on there punches or do they just notr breed hitterS? Of course there are the odd exceptions like Khan and Haye both can hit but both have questionable chins!

Thoughts?

It is a Good Matchup, World Title material ?.

Im sure Willsy would be a bit upset, Considering he KOd Chad 2 fights ago.

I would have thought a guy like Ben Rabah would have been a better proposition.

^Mate, I'm sure the Australian IBO official loves getting a Title fight down here. Doesn't matter who is fighting for the Title he still gets paid the big bucks for having it here. The term money grabbing joke springs to mind...

This is the same bloke who loves pausing fights mid round so he can have a chat and get his mug on camera. He thinks it's all about him.

Yeah Cuenca is apparently fighting Mauricio Ariel Pereira 15-0-1 (1). What are the odds of a stoppage in this fight

At least it is a genuinely vacant title. The last IBO Super Lightweight was Pacman, and he has a Super Welterweight title fight coming up against Margarito.

If the Argie is out, They should look at Rabah or Wills to replace him. 2 good domestic match ups.
