Has Harrison got Haye's number?

Post by Lightsoot »

How many of you genuinely think Audley Harrison will beat David Haye?

Paul Foley is one of them. Any advances on Paul?

Not a chance. As soon as Haye hits him, he will go into a shell.I expect him to get knocked out early doors in this fight.Good on him getting a big pay day though and for getting himself a world title shot.

Sure he has a puncher's chance, just as Maccarinelli did. The question is who is more likely to land their heavy shots and for me that's got to be Haye.

As for the issue of mental strength, Haye is abslutely miles ahead in this department. Just look at the risks he's taken compared to Harrison. Hell, Harrison wouldn't even let it all hang out against an ancient Julius Francis. This idea that Harrison has 'unshakeable belief' is nonsense in my opinion. The test of someone's self-belief is in what they do and not what they say (think Allen Green...). Harrison doesn't fight with self-belief and he hasn't taken fights that show any great self-belief.

Haye will hammer him within 5 rounds.

Does anyone else form the impression that Team Haye is striving desperately to find another opponent for Haye - anyone but Harrison? I would actually enjoy it if they did find someone else, and why not Albert Sosnowski who is due out in an eight-rounder around the time of November 13.

Well from what Harrison has said recently, it looks like they had their heart set on Adamek, but the cuts he sustained against Grant may have ruined these plans. Although I question how marketable people think Audley v Haye will be, it will be a lot more marketable than Haye v Sosnowski

And I agree with Matt. You can't give Audley the advantage regarding mental strength. As much as I admire Audley for his continuing mission to become a champion regardless of how many journeymen he looks awful against or how many mid level opponents he loses to, Haye is far, far more the natural fighter in the ring, far more eager to lay it all on the line.

No. Harrison will sh!t himself when the fight starts. Haye's speed should make this fight very clear-cut.

Didn't Harrison cry off when Haye gave him a beating in sparring a few years back?

Harrsion was supposed to be the genuine Heavyweight hope back then and Haye was a scrawny crusier.

Haye will obliterate him. Fight won't last 3 rounds.

Pathetic choice of opponent if it goes ahead though. Haye should be ashamed if he defends against him.

Audley doesn't have anything like an unshakeable belief. Remember when he bottled it at the press conference for his rematch with Williams? He was hiding behind a desk so Danny couldn't get to him.

Rogan was too much mentally for him, you could see it in Audley's eyes. He looked shook up and scared against Coleman Barrett...

Talking down the camera when nobody is near him is easy.
Remember when he preferred to stay in the Ring and badmouth Herbie Hide rather than do it to his face ringside? He hid behind about 30 cronies that night, little old Herbie was all alone yet seemed more than willing to have a go. There you have it, even Herbie Hide has more bottle and is touhger mentally than Aud!!!

Audley has a chance - he'd do well to see a top sports psychologist, to give him the mental belief for just one night, or a hypnotist, like Collins did for awhile - a good one can perform miracles, which is probably what Audley needs.
He might understand that, while he could well get knocked out, he's got to at least give himself a chance to land that one punch that could change his life.
He's big and can punch, and Haye's chin aint great by a long shot.

Good article by the way

Obviously haye is a massive favourite to win,but what if audley thinks this is his only chance and let's it all go for once,he'd still be an underdog but would his physical
advantages give him a chance of landing a big shot?

No I don't think anyone does remember that because you have either made it up or exagerated it.

Audley at the Williams 2 weigh in shoved Danny when they squared up and touched faces and then walked off so as to not start a fight before fight night. If Audley had knocked Danny out like he did in that second fight at the weigh in then his rep wouldn't have been improved much would it.

Rogan proved after the Audley fight that actually he was one of the best in the country. People ignore the fact Audley lost to Rogan by a point (some on here actually argued the decision) and a few months later Rogan goes and stops Skelton for the first time ever. Coleman Barrett? Yeah Coleman threw everything and Audley barely budged, Barrett won the first off the fact Audley just covered up and then in the 2nd he knocks Barrett into queer street with 1 of about 4 punches he threw all fight.

At the Ellis fight when Hide was ringisde, what are you suggesting he did? Step out the ring and pick a fight with Herbie. You do know that Hide smacked a woman that night and that is what caused the riot? And your here singing his praises saying 'yeah he was willing to have a go.'

I suppose you will ignore Audley's most recent performance and do a bennie and not btoehr mentioning he fought for 10 rounds 1 handed after doing his shoulder in, was losing by a margin going into the last that meant he needed a KO and went and did just that, won by ko. Sure Sprott is no Mike Tyson but he has fought a lot on the continent, won against home fighters in Germany and hadn't been knocked clean out like that in years.

You can't have it both ways mate. Pointing out all Audley's poor performances, exagerating everything, making rubbish up and not bothering with the few plus points. His plus points are few and far between, but they are his most recent. You are basically the equivelant of an American on current scene saying Haye is naff because Carl Thompson smashed him to pieces.

My initial thoughts are no f*cking chance.

But there is that horrible nagging doubt - Audley Harrison is going to haunt everyone of us who abused him on the various forums and those nice journalists who were less complimentary in the papers!!!

My natural thought is - Audley will be fantastic in the build up - the fight will sell well and will be hyped well and then when Audley finally arrives in his corner he will sh*t himself and go back into his shell - massive massive mistake against Haye. The only chance Audley has in my view is to come out all guns blazing and that is something Audley has never done.

Audley is not a world class fighter and will receive quite a beating. Yes, he suffered an injury against the shot Sprott, but Sprott knocked him unconscious in the first encounter and the very mediocre (relatively speaking) Rogan beat him recently. I don't see anything that would suggest he has improved in the last few years. I'm also not sure about this punchers chance. Harrison is big, but he is not a particularly big puncher and he is so tentative that Haye will not have much coming back at him anyways. If Harrison has a punchers chance, so do 50+ other heavyweights.

I must say though, Audley has done a tremendous job of promoting himself. It seems there are a fair number of people who think he can score a victory. Enzo was a far more dangerous opponent, and we saw what happened to him. Harrison will fall in similar fashion.

I think Haye should win and easily. But.. if Audley cathes him with that right uppercut, it could be curtains. Remember, we are dealing with Heavyweights here.

Sprott didn't look particularly shot to me mate. Threw a lot of shots and came in shape. I didn't hear any calls for Sprott to retire because he looked old shot and crap afterwards.

Audley's left uppercut has power, if he lands that he can knock Haye out. But then again David Haye is such a tremendous puncher that potentially every shot he lands can knock the dodgy chinned Harrison out.

Harrison is no more dodgy chinned than Haye.Haye will win because he will have the better mindset and gameplan.Dont expect David to rush in,him and Booth are very clever people.

It's an interestiung fight. I think the longer it goes favours Audley!

I suspect it will be over in a few rounds, who wins? It's a 60/40 fight in Hayes favour!
