The scary thing is, I wouldn't be all that confident in picking him to get through a warm-up fight. I think he probably has the skill to beat Skelton in a war - he's a more refined puncher, plus he showed big heart against Tyson and Klitschko. The problem is, I don't think his brain will send the right signals and we'll end up with another muddled performance.
I blame, partly, the commentators and boxing media who for years posed us the question "just how good is Danny Williams?" during/after nearly all his fights on the way up (and even past the Francis fight up till the Tyson thriller).
I think he's been domestic class all along but has been mislead by all the people telling him he was better. People are probably telling him now that he beats Skelton then can go for Brewster or Ruiz, etc. Brewster I see as 60-40 in favour of the American, Ruiz would beat him handily.
I expect we'll see the usual in this Skelton fight: preview of Danny Williams career to date with Adam Smith drawling in a grave tone "it alll went wroooong for Daaanny Williammmsss" over a replay of the final Klitschko knock down, before we hear "ssssince then Danny has been hard in training with Jim McDonnell" etc.
Then we might get a pre-fight interview like in Sprott 3, where we hear Danny himself say "oh, yeah, definitely, I'm up for this, definitely" before coming out and doing all that stand-around non-fighting: dropping his hands and acting tired, switch-hitting without actually hitting... He's a good domestic fight Williams but he's letting himself down by believing the hype he's above that level.
